15 Favorite Post-Beatle Paul Songs
-
I'm curious as to everyone's favorite post-Beatle Macca songs are. Not the best -- something that's impossible to prove one way or another -- but the songs that are special to you, the ones that stop you in your tracks every time, that make you grin or cry or shiver. Here's mine, in approximately chronological order (because I really can't rank these in terms of quality and wouldn't want to try). All are the original studio recordings unless specified otherwise:
Maybe I'm Amazed
Too Many People
Band on the Run
Old Siam Sir
Here Today
Wanderlust
The Pound Is Sinking
Somedays
Calico Skies
Too Much Rain
The End of the End
Feet in the Clouds
Sing the Changes (GENYC live version)
Do It Now
Hand in Hand -
In no particular order:
Maybe I’m Amazed, My Love, Jet, Magneto and Titanium Man, Hi Hi Hi, Calico Skies, Somedays, Beautiful Night, No More Lonely Nights, Wanderlust, Appreciate, I Can Bet, Come On To Me, Do It Now, Fuh You.
I could easily name 15 more!
-
In no order of preference...
Waterfalls;
Little Lamb Dragonfly;
You Tell Me;
Scared;
How Kind Of You;
One Of These Days;
Love In Song;
Hosanna;
Somedays;
Distractions;
No Values;
Riding To Vanity Fair;
Single Pigeon;
Some People Never Know;
Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five.
-
Picking just 15 in almost impossible, but here goes:
Silly Love Songs/Listen To What The Man Said/1985/Red Rose Speedway Medley/Smile Away/Back Seat of My Car/Band On The Run/Treat Her Gently, Lonely Old People/London Town/Take It Away/Average Person/Happy With You/Soily/Let 'Em In/Fuh You
BONUS PICKS: Venus and Mars Reprise/Dominoes/Beware My Love
-
My favorite songs of Paul's are whatever ones I happen to be listening to at the time! lol I love them all, would be too difficult to choose. But if I had to... these would be on the list:
1. Maybe I'm amazed
2. New
3. Queenie Eye
4. Apppreciate
5. Mrs. Vanderbilt
6. 1985
7. Band on the Run
8. I Don't Know
9. Come on to Me
10. Jazz Street (Instrumental)
11. Cosmically Conscious
12. Front Parlour (Instrumental)
13. Beautiful Night
14. Calico Skies
15. Silly Love Songs

Great Post Bruce albeit almost impossible for a "true" Macca fan. This is why I was pushing on many of the "Take It Away" Podcasts reviewing Paul's Post Beatles' albums/sessions for a "By Decade" McCartney Post Beatles Compilation. This Anthology type package would include many of Paul's lost gems, unreleased and non-album songs. He has so many and unlike "Pure McCartney" it wouldn't neglect so many sections of Paul's full career and wouldn't focus so much on the hits, singles etc.
For this list of 15 Post Beatles' songs that you love I will focus more on less commercial type songs with smart, meaningful lyrics:
Dear Boy
Single Pigeon
Don't Let It Bring You Down
Somebody Who Cares
The Other Me
Footprints
Put It There
Calico Skies
Little Willow
Riding to Vanity Fair
Mr. Bellamy
Early Days
Despite Repeated Warnings
Who Cares
Hand in Hand

Been away for a couple days, but interesting to see everyone's choices. Glad to see Single Pigeon on a couple people's lists. Depending on my mood, I could easily swap it out for one of the songs I listed. I could do the same with Confidante.
As for the person who listed Average Person, uh, well... no accounting for taste, I guess.
Oh, and for the people who managed to make their lists look normal -- one song per line -- does having an extra space between lines do the trick? This site baffles me sometimes.

I just type the song name and then hit enter key which brings it down to the next line, don't know if that makes sense or helps.

That's what I do too. A few months ago, setting out a post in that way would only last a few hours before it would automatically be changed into one long sentance. But my post on this thread, made three days ago,has retained its original layout so I assume that coding issue has now been sorted out.

Impossible task. I could probaly come up with a list of 50 but not 15.

Sorry Bruce old boy, but I still LOVE Average Person; my taste is just fine, thank you. My least favorite song on Flaming Pie is Somedays; my least favorite song on Tug Of War is The Pound is Sinking; my least favorite song on Memory Almost Full is The End of The End; and by far my least favorite song on Egypt Station is Hand in Hand. To each his own.

That's what I did, so maybe I was the last one to post a list before the bug was sored out.
