“Home Tonight”/“In A Hurry” out Nov. 22nd
-
Wish I could get the picture disc on Record Store Day Nov. 29th, but the only record store near me closed!
-
Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be a special 4-LP "discovery" edition of Egypt Station next year that will have them as bonus tracks
-
"1. Home Tonight - Tom "Bones" Malone, Steve Herrman, Paul McCartney, Paul McCartney, Jim Hoke, Greg Kurstin, Doug Moffett, Charles Rose
Lyrics
I'm taking you home tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
I'm taking you home tonightWe're like a train that's left the tracks
The world is falling apart
I'd gladly help to put it back
But tell me where to startI'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Well, the coat you're wearing is way too thin
I'm taking you home tonightI read the bad news every day
It's getting harder to cry
Sometimes I'd like to look away
But I can't close my eyesI'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
next of kin
I'm taking you home tonightSay yes, tonight
Say yes, that my suggestion is right
Say yes, to me
And that's the way you want it to beOh, I'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
I'm taking you home tonightWell, life goes by at such a pace
And trouble's here to increase
I know that we can find the ways
That we can get some peaceI'm taking you home (home) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
I'm taking you home tonightSo say yes, tonight
Say yes, that my suggestion is right
Say yes, to me
And that's the way you want it to beWell, I'm taking you home (home) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
They say a cold, cold wind is blowing in
The coat you're wearing is way too thin
And won't you find my next of kin
I'm taking you home tonight -

Im going ..., if I can, I'll grab you a disk!
Great lyrics for that Home Tonight... it reminds me of watching politics these days... this world is like a fast revolver going off the tracks...
Trumpets, cellos, violins, clarinets, drums and keyboards... It's going to be brilliant!
-
A song that even George Harrison would have thrown away before recording.
-
Am just listening on Spotify. Man, he is sounding really good!

What a strange post from a McCartney "fan" ?!
Fantastic ! - this would have enhanced the original album significantly ! why wait till now ?
-
and here is In A Hurry:
-
Waking up to two very cool McCartney tunes is always amazing. Both songs have hints of Beatles, Wings, and solo Paul. Love the horn section in both songs; especially love the false ending and crowd noise of In A Hurry. Both songs are fast, silly, touching, and loud. Yep, my kind of McCartney song. Thanks Sir Paul!!

Yeah, it's a mystery. The original album could have been enhanced by several songs Paul has released from the sessions that were not on the original album! Someone, other than Paul, should....maybe....have made the song selections for the album. There's now 24 songs he did during the sessions for the album. Both "Home Tonight" and "In a Hurry" are very melodic, catchy songs. Paul's vocals are quite good as well. Can't decide whether to fit these two on the original album....or take all the songs left off and just create a totally seperate album. Hmmmm.
George would not have thrown away these songs...some of his albums..."Somewhere In England" for example, would have benefited greatly by these songs...that album was noticeably short of memorabale material...one the rocord company origianlly didn't want to release until he came up with a couple of better songs.....

Exactly! Love them...melodic, catchy, nice vocals, lyrics... He had 24 songs from the "Egypt Station" sessions. Numerous songs should not have been left off of it....IMO. Someone else, perhaps, should have pushed here and there. I'll either insert these two somewhere and have a 24-track album, or just create a second one from all the leftover songs.

WOWEEE Woke up, fell out of Ned and two great new McCartney songs were online
Home Tonight hooks you in from the start, great horns throughout, and builds up to Paul asking everyone to say YES... and by the ending, who isn't saying YES to Paul, after all !!!
In a Hurry another fun and Very danceable song, put it on repeat and listen til you're up and happily dancing...
LOVE them both... it makes sense they were released together on a single. Putting the Sunshine into a Black Friday release.

You can only buy one copy unfortunately. I found a place that is about 13 miles away, but is near a mall and it will be a madhouse on Black Friday so I think I'll have to skip it. I downloaded the songs on Amazon Music. I had a digital credit so the songs were free!

Obviously to make more $$$.

That's funny, instead of hearing "cold, cold wind tonight" I heard "there's a go go wind tonight," LOL, thought that was it upon the first several hearings 'til someone placed the entire song lyric here. I had thought what a fun, cool reference to a swinging sixties slang term (Laughs), til I was set right.
-
Only one listening so far, so this is very tentative, but Home Tonight strikes me as okay, and In a Hurry seems really interesting. That's the one I find myself wanting to get to know better, and the bass line totally kicks a**.

Glad to hear Nancy. I'm planning on going to 2 record stores, so hopefully I can get 2 copies, one for another friend who also asked.

After giving each of the new tunes another listen, Home Tonight is growing on me, though I still think In a Hurry is superior. Both quite solid -- not quite top tier Macca (a category I reserve for a couple dozen jaw-droppingly great songs), but strong second tier stuff for sure.

I’m enjoying these two new songs. Paul is sweet and always makes me smile. Glad to have new Macca music to tickle my eardrums.
