Can anyone from the Netherlands give me an idea of how far Otterlo is from this venue? Probably would go by train? Thanks for any info.
-
Otterlo isn’t far from Nijmegen at all and getting there by public transport will be perfectly doable. Especially when you get dropped off at the nearest trainstation (Ede I guess). You can be in Nijmegen in half an hour by train and then 15 min by bus to the actual concert

Dear community members,
This is rather an unusual question but i want to propose to my girlfriend. Super scary ofcourse!
But what would be a better place then on stage with my life time hero Sir Paul. There is a concert coming up on the 29th of may in the Netherlands in the Goffertpark which is practically our back yard.
I really don't know where to go with this question to check if there is any chance of making this dream happen.
Is there anyone who can give me advice in this matter?
Thank you very much

At night you, on your way back you can get to Ede or Arnhem by train. From there you need a taxi or lift because at that time there ar no busses tot Otterlo anymore.

Thanks for the info! I'm waiting to hear from my friends to see if they would go, or IF I can do this alone. Trying to get to a van Gogh painting in Otterlo. Logistics... the Netherlands are so great to visit!!

Thank you so much, I need to get a hotel then. Good info. Hope I can work it out with my friends.
As far as proposing to your girlfriend. I did a quick search. In 2014-2015 he had couples in Brazil, Arizona, NYC and Rochester up on stage for their proposal. When I was at Austin City limits, I saw a couple, she had a veil and they had signs. It didn't happen, however, there were huge crowds there, because it was a festival. They may not have been able to get close enough or it would have been hard for them to make it to the stage in that setting. Why not give it a try... Go for it... if you never try...the answer will definitely be no...so you have to take a chance in life, for what you would like ... it's an exciting moment in your life. Know that you gave, something that you two really wanted... all the chances in the world. A great way to start off your future together! Good Luck to you guys!!

My friend and I will be travelling from Ireland and we can't wait to see Paul again! I've never been to the Netherlands before so I'm really looking forward to it, we'll be staying in Nijmegen on the night of the concert and going to explore Amsterdam the next day.
I've heard a few Dutch people say they don't like the venue too much, does anyone here have any thoughts on it?

Hey Sarah,
Great that you are coming to the Netherlands for Macca! We won’t disappoint you, promise! I think it’s great he plays the Goffertpark! It gives the concert a more festival feel instead of those boring soccerstadiums without any atmosphere. Not to mention the often bad accoustics there that people complain about. I was there before for Bruce Springsteen for instance and had a blast, even at the back of the field. So don’t worry, the location won’t be a bummer. Furthermore, it will be quite easy to travel from Nijmegen city to the park itself.
Let me know if you want recommendations for your stay in Nijmegen! ️ Enjoy the coming months with the anticipation for the concert!

I think that sentiment comes from that it's just a pity since we've got so many fantastic venues, and this is just a wet field with a stage at the end. We're always top class with facilities at the venues, the transportation surrounding events, the sound, and so on. And this field isn't known for that at all.
The location isn't build to host so many people who all want to arrive and leave at approximately the same time. The infrastructure is just completely unsuitable for a massive event. It's even advised for concerts to avoid the actual dedicated train station for the venue, that must say a lot. If I decide to go in the end, I will travel by train to Nijmegen main station and by bike from there. There will be massive traffic jams since the afternoon, hours to leave the place. If you're able to park a car there at all, since the room just isn't there.
Then the venue itself is like any open-air park: too soft sound "blowing away" due to wind. Way too little toilet facilities, way too little drink stalls, way too big queues (to what we are used to anyway). Not things I care about since it's a rock and roll concert, but it's completely un-Dutch-like. It's late May, so the sun will be down by the time 'Live And Let Die' is already over. If there is any sun at all that day, because it's 'rain or shine' over here. And all because McCartney's bookers are endlessly stubborn and want him perform for 20,000-30,000 ticket holders at a 60,000 capacity field.
Nijmegen as a city is lovely, so there's that. And McCartney will put on a great show as always.

Hi Dennis, thank you for the advice! That's exactly why we chose to go to Nijmegen instead of some of the other shows, because it's standing only and not a huge stadium where we might end up with bad seats.

I understand this. I'm not a huge fan of open-air parks for concerts, mainly because of the sound issues as you mentioned, though I'm used to it as we have several similar venues in Ireland. I notice from your signature that you went to Paul's Dublin concert in 2010? I was there too, and I don't like the sound at that venue at all.
As for the weather, I'm hoping it will at least be better than what we get in Ireland!
We'll be staying very close to the main station, so we'll probably have to take public transport.

Has anybody booked via eventtravel and already got the information that Holland is cancelled and how they deal with refunds?

I haven't booked via eventtravel but I got the information that it will be postponed, not cancelled and they're currently looking for a new date. You're unable to get refunds, at least where I bought the tickets (Eventim).

Hey there,
has any of you received a refund for the cancelled show in Nijmegen yet? I asked for a refund via the form provided by ticketmaster/mojo on May 24th - and they have never gotten back to me.
Asked again a few weeks ago - no answer yet.
I have a feeling that I have been ripped of and stolen.
Hope you had better luck.

Yes, I received it a couple of weeks ago, fortunately! No answer is unacceptable, so I’d reach out to them again... Good luck!

there is always the possibility of disappointment. It depends on each person personally!

I don't care what you say. Although I'm not trying to convey the negative! I love Paul and everyone who works with him.
