Ram 50th Golden Anniversary Edition?
-
Next May (2021) it will be 50 years since the release of Ram by Paul & Linda. This is only wishful think on my part but I'm really hoping that there will be a special release of the album to mark the occasion.
I'd lespecially like there to be a double cd disc edition where the second 'bonus audio' disc has all the Ram demos that were rediscovered just a few years back. The current Flaming Pie 2-disc cd has a bonus audio disc containing over 70 minutes of home demos etc. And the relatively recent release of The Beatles (White) album, also contained a second disc full of demos.
Anyone else like to see such a release or was the Archive Edition of Ram sufficient enough for now?

I think the Archive release was enough mainly because he probably wouldn't give us much of anything new.

Would absolutely dig a 50th anniversary release of my ALL TIME FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME!! Was 14 when I received this album from my amazing Dad and boom; the rest is history. Still own not only the album, but also the 8-track tape. Never forget my Dad telling me that he thought this was the best Beatle album since Rubber Soul.Ha. Other cool memory is my Mom asking me to play that "Uncle Albert" song again. Ha. Great memories of a great album.

So that was the first time you were introduced to Paul, was through Ram? It sounds like that, but you were old enough to be aware of the Beatles in the '60s. You would have been about 6 when they were on Ed Sullivan (I was

Although I think the discovery of those Ram demos was made prior to the Ram Archive release, it was probably too late to include on the release which had already been compiled. I can only hope that the Golden Anniversay would be seen a s a golden opportunity to release them because holding back for the Diamond Anniversary could well be too late for a lot of fans.

You don"t have the Ram Archive release?

Yep, I have every RAM re-issue. But I am sure there is a s-load of additional recordings. Would especially love to have remastered live versions of RAM tunes. Wings did perform Smile Away and Eat At Home in 1972. And yes Nancy, I knew of The Beatles; my Dad gave me The White Album for my 11th birthday; never played it much, since I was ELEVEN. Ha. But at 14 I was ready for some amazing rock and roll. And Sir Paul provided.

I guess it was different for young boys, but all of us 8 & 9 year old girls went crazy for the Beatles music in 1963/1964. When I was 11, I was digging Revolver - to this day my favorite album of theirs.

Sorry, you didn't mention that you had it in your other post...just the album & the 8 track.

I would go as far as to say that Ram is Paul's best album since the Fab Four. I remember Paul describing the recording sessions as 'sweaty rock' ! I'm not a great one for large amounts of bonus tracks, demos, outtakes etc. To me, Ram is the perfect testament to all his talents, and it can't be improved.

It's one of my favourite albums. I already have three versions of it, though (the original vinyl, a Doc Ebbetts and the Archive box) so not sure about a re-release. The demos and the idea with the live versions do sound interesting. If they do it I might indulge.

I'm all in for RAM50!!!

Its certainly the most popular album related to Paul, according to the RateYourMusic site. The current top 5 albums (rated out of 5.00 and with number of votes in brackets) are:
1. Ram 3.95 (6487)
2. Band on the Run 3.88 (6410)
3. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard 3.72 (2305)
4. Flaming Pie 3.63 (1658)
5. Venus and Mars 3.62 (1947).

Have the RAM Deluxe Box Set, which is probably my favorite boxed set so I don’t think I’d buy another. Waiting for Back to the Egg to become a Deluxe set.

Just like the Beatles and Esher Demos release, I would buy Ram again if all those Ram demos recorded on Paul's Scottish farm were included. However, what with McCartney lll and the releases of London Town/ Back To The Egg Deluxe sets, I doubt the 50th anniversary will be marked for Ram.
