Why Paul McCartney ‘Hated’ Being Called ‘The Cute Beatle’
-
There are fortunate people on this earth and yet they complain.

Paul can never remember the details - he was still 22 when he recorded Yesterday in 1965! Then a week or so later he turned 23.

Yes...as a big time fan, the "Cute Beatle" always bothered me also
To me, it always sounded like they were comparing Paul to another "Boy Band" member. I would remind people that you're talking about one of the greatest singer/songwriters that ever lived. He's a great musician and not just another "Boy Band" singer.

If my memory is correct, being called the "Cute Beatle" went away pretty quick. By the time they were doing albums like "Rubber Soul", people were talking about his songwriting with John and not being cute. Life is really tough when the female population around the world thinks you are cute. I am sure being "cute" had its advantages for Sir Paul -lol.

Back in 1964, the term "Boy Band" hadn't even been invented! Calling him the "Cute Beatle" was just a way for the press to differentiate them: George was the "Quiet Beatle" etc. Like Yankeefan said, he wasn't continually called that for very long. (and his looks certainly were an advantage - every girl wanted Paul!)

I completely agree with you. What's more, her porcelain doll look gives her that cute side.
Then, to be frank. He was the one that scared me the most and fascinated me at the same time. Post Beatles of course. But don't ask me why. I don't know. -
“Paul said his wife did not consider him to be cute.” Lol really?

And which wife?

There is a difference between being cute and being handsome/good looking. Since I am a guy, I will relate this to girls/woman. Taylor Swift in her 20's was cute, Christie Brinkley was gorgeous.

When Paul was younger, like 20-24, I think he was cute, then later I would describe him as handsome/good looking/gorgeous/hot!

I do agree with you guys that the "cute one" lable didn't stick in the long run. Same thing for George (the quet one"label after his writing abilities started to soar in the late 60's. And some people who aren't in love with the Beatles still consider the group as the "original" Boy Band, But "labels" unfortunately still hang around. I remember when the Will Smith Mohammed Ali biopic movie was being advertised a few years ago. The part in the movie when Mohammed Ali met the Beatles and the movie writers had Will Smith say "Yea you know the one (referring to John Lennon) with the glasses. You know the "smart one" implying that John was smarter than the other three. There's always that kind of prejudice hanging around.

Guys in their early 20's look boyish and that IMO is when you can consider them cute. When they age a bit, that is when they can become handsome/good looking.
