Spokane show

Well, just got back home to BC after seeing the concert in Spokane on Thursday. We were on the floor/middle/row Y and was pretty good seats. Spokane is a quiet city tho!
Interesting to see the comments from the past few days. Some different perspectives! Have seen Paul 13 times and I did not have a ton of high expectations about the voice/setlist. I was just happy I could see him again;perhaps for the last time( or maybe not...lol) I noticed the voice was a bit weaker since I saw him in 2019, but it honestly did not bother me. I admire he is still putting it out there, but overall did not have a negative impact on me. I have seen shows of other artists like Lightfoot in the past where it was too noticeable on too many songs. The Band did a good job supporting him plus I thought the horns were involved in more of the songs this time around?
There was a coiuple of times where notes were missed by the band and they just smiled; it happens!
Setlist! I actually like Fuh You and Come on to me, but was surprised he played them. Overall, my preference would be to drop those 2 plus In Spite of the Danger, Queenie Eye, Mr Kite, Dance tonight. Also perhaps Letting Go and Let me Roll it. I liked Women and Wives and really liked You never give me your money and Bathroom Window..never seen that performed. My big take away was I've Got a Feeling. I thought that was outstanding and probably best time of the night. Not surprisingly, I have seen that clip on social media the most since then. My Valentine and Amazed is staying as they are for Linda and Nancy IMO.
Some of the same stories being told (lol) but he had a new one about being in a taxi and got the idea for "quit the police department" line..I think it is new? Also, he asked the women to scream like it is 1964..Loud! hadnt seen that before. Several of the people around us had not seen Paul before and blown away by playing that long. Live and Let Die was a showstopper. Guy next to me said he just texted a buddy saying Paul is 79 years old and playing this long??
I see some of the comments talk a lot about his voice and setlist and thats fine. Different opinion is ok!
2 hours and 40 minutes...36 songs..Saw Paul..sang along..had a couple of cold ones. Thumbs up!

Also, what on Earth is up with not playing Yesterday anymore??? His most iconic song and every show feels so incomplete and a letdown without it. And he can still sing it better than many others remaining on the setlist which are a real struggle. Truly boggles the mind...
Yesterday has been pretty rough on the last couple of tours, but that kind of fits with the meaning of the song. Maybe I'm Amazed and Here Today have been tough for him, but he kept them in. I'll never understand. I was hoping for more change in the set list, but at the same time, I am so excited and thankful that I still get to see him in concert. Syracuse....can't wait!!!!
He hasn't done Yesterday since 2018. He dropped it by the time I saw him in May 2019.
This was the most recent Yesterday - 2018-10-31

It seems only fair that if Paul does Maybe I'm Amazed for Linda and My Valentine for Nancy, he should do Riding to Vanity Fair for Heather.

I just happened to see 2 higher quality videos from the Spokane show. Here's my quick thoughts:
Getting Better - It was pretty good. I liked the pace of the way Paul and Band played it. While Paul's voice was a little weak, I liked the way the Band (particularly Abe) did the harmonies. I also liked the addition of the live "horns". A very good addition imo to the Setlist.
Women and Wives - The video showed Paul going from the front of the stage (where he had just performed "Getting Better") to the piano. You could definitey see that he wasn't as spry last nght even compared to his last tour in 2019 but once he started the song, I was quite impressed. HIs vocals (and he was pretty much alone on this one) sounded good. I loved the pace of the song and I really liked the guitar solo that Rusty supplied in the middle. Overall I thought this was really good addition and I thought he sounded better here compared to "Can't Buy Me Love" and Junior's Farm (the 2 opening numbers). That of course could have because of nerves starting the show.
I am hoping especially for other attendees at later shows that Paul and Band adds other McCartney 3 songs to the setlist. Hopefully it will give him confidence to bring out "Slidin", "Seize the Day" and "Find My Way"...3 of the best songs on McCartney 3. As far as the tour schedule goes, I have always thought it would be better to attend like the 4th or 5th shows. By that time Paul and Band can certainly work out the initial shows "kinks" and depending on how Paul feels, they can work in additional songs. For the hard core fans, lets hope.

I heard the screaming thing in 2019 in Greenville, SC. Maybe he didn't do it in Vancouver. And I know I've heard the "police dept." story prior to that concert. Maybe in some interview he gave?
ETA: He did You Never Give Me Your Money in 2002 in Atlanta.. Maybe he told the story then? He also sang it when you saw him in San Jose that year.

As said in my post was referring to You Never Give Me Your Money AND Bathroom Window..he didn't do Bathroom Window in SJ.
Police Department line may have been said in interview but not in concerts that I have seen which is what I was referring to..same as screaming thing...maybe done somewhere else, but I have not seen it nor on video, but I don't watch all of his tour stops on you tube!

I believe I saw the same clip BJ and here are my thoughts. I agree with you that "Getting Better" is a good selection. Top notch song from "Sgt. Pepper that I believe was only done on one other tour and that was almost 20 years ago. The addition of live horns is great on this song and others, glad it is being done again. Paul's voice is ok and the band is really "carrying" him on certain songs with their vocals. When Paul went to the piano after this song, I thought I noticed him limping the first few steps. This is not uncommon when you get older when you have been standing in one spot for awhile or sitting for a bit.
I agree he sounded good on "Women And Wives" but part of that I believe is because it sounds like the original recording which was done with his current voice. That is one reason why he should do as many "McCartney III" or "Egypt Station" songs as possible because you are not hearing a big difference in vocal quality from the recording of a particular song to him singing it live.
I agree that it is probably better to see a show when they have worked out the kinks. If Paul is going to make any changes, it should be in the next week or two.
P.S. - While the Lennon clip singing with Paul was cool and probably the highlight of the show, there is one downside to it. It shows a young John Lennon singing at his peak with Paul who is almost 80 and not at his peak.

I've said that for years... he should be singing more current songs that he wrote & recorded with his current voice. But what the heck do we know? He's happy.

I totally agree with you all but the question is....Would Paul want to be looking out at the audience and see 95% of them scratching their heads?

He could promote it as such so we would all know what to expect.

That would make for a good name for a tour "Now & Then"

Yeah, sorry, brain fart. I realize the police dept. line is in SCITTBW. I swear I had heard the story before from him, maybe in that b&w interview he did with the guy with the long white beard and glasses? His name escapes me.

They said on another board that Paul mentioned this in the tour book & called it Nerd Tour.
