Caught a "Laugh-In" show, from early 1970, on Decades last night. Ringo was the special guest, plugging "Magic Christian". At one point, Dan Rowan asked him if it was true he and his wife had posed naked for an album cover, and Ringo said "No...that was John Lennon!" A skit with 2 angels in heaven had one angel asking the other, "Do you think there's any truth to the rumor that Paul McCartney is still alive?" No George mention that I noticed, though. Oh, and Jeremy Lloyd was a regular on the show at that time. Ringo asked him, "Remember me? Ringo Starr? We worked together in A Hard Day's Night, Help, and the Magic Christian!"

On Chuck Lorre's Vanity Card #565: I was listening to the Beatles channel on satellite radio when World War III started. Knowing the end was near, I sat in my car, fully expecting to hear The End or All Things Must Pass. I got Octopus's Garden instead. As the rolling nuclear inferno swept across the Los Angeles basin, my last thought was of my father and his stubborn unwillingness to appreciate the crucial role Ringo played in the Fab Four. "I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden in the shade"

On the new show SEAL Team, the guys are in the Sudan trying to get past a military checkpoint. The main character, played by David Boreanaz (Bones, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) says "What do you say we give peace a chance?" The Sudanese soldier says "John Lennon, yes?" and lets them pass.

Svenn Goolie, while showing The Brides Of Dracula... Saturday night, during a scene where they were anticipating dawn to scare off the vampire, cut to a commercial and he said, "Good Morning, Good Morning!...oh, I thought they were going to use that line from the Sgt. Pepper Album?"

In the Lifetime movie, The Lost Wife Of Robert Durst, Durst and his future wife Kathie are in a restaurant and a woman with long blonde hair walks by and he stares at her. Kathie says, "Who's that?" and he says That was Prudence Farrow, Mia Farrow's sister. You know how John Lennon wrote that song Dear Prudence? It's about her." P.S. After Kathie becomes his wife, several years later she "disappears." Then Durst has an affair with Prudence. This is all based on real people. Durst was never arrested for killing Kathie, but he was for killing another woman. Between the 2 women, he killed a neighbor and hacked his body up but was acquitted - self defense!! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Durst

On Ozzy and Jack's World Detour they were traveling through Georgia and were about to go to an Elvis museum. Ozzy says "We're going to see Elvis' wart? It's like seeing John Lennon's f*&%ing skid mark!" Jack: "Which probably would go for a lot of money!" Side note: The women who owns all the Elvis stuff said that she was offered $1,000,000 for the wart! She didn't say how much she paid for it, just that it was "a lot of money."

Family Guy tonight: (warning you ahead of time, sick humor ahead) Brian owes money for rent and tells his landlord "Ok, I'll get a job. There's gotta be something I can do. It's not like I'm Ringo." Cut to The Beatles - Paul holding Sgt. Pepper cover. Paul: "Well lads, what do you think of the new album cover?" Ringo: "Great, but it won't look great when it's shrunk down for a CD." Paul: "CD? What's a CD?" Ringo: "A digital compact disc." John: "Ringo, are you from the future?" Ringo: "Yeah, and I outlive two of you." George: "Which two?" John: "Yeah, come on, Ringo, tell us!" Ringo: "Okay, but you have to agree to do my song about the octopus." George: "Hey, before you tell us, I'm going to go and smoke a thousand cigarettes." John: "And I'm going to move to New York City and walk in and out of my building."

The Graham Norton Show Dec. 9, 2017. Stephen Fry is talking about how he’s never been able to sing. He says he was at the funeral of film director John Schlesinger (2003) and was sitting next to Paul McCartney. Everyone sings a couple hymns, but Stephen says he just mimes them. Paul says “Sing. You’re not singing!” (Stephen does a great impersonation of Paul, you know how he emphasizes the “g?”) SF: “Paul, I can’t sing.” PM: “Everybody can sing. Sing!”  So Stephen begins to sing.

Paul: “Shut up, you’re right, you can’t sing!”

Stephen then says (to Graham Norton and the other guests) “If Paul McCartney tells you you can’t sing, it’s official!”

On the show Comedy Knockout, comedian Sal Vulcano is in the hot seat. The other 2 comedians have to fill in the blank about him. “He is a member of ___________.”  Mark says, “The frumpy Beatles!”  Sal retorts, “I’m not Ringo!” and Mark yells back, “You’re Guido!”

On The Librarians Wednesday night, they are at a team-building retreat and the Arts & Creativity teacher is talking about how she relaxes by thinking of a poem or lullaby. She starts to recite “ Golden Slumbers kiss your eyes. Smiles awake you when you rise. Sleep pretty wantons do not cry.” Jake Stone finishes the poem “And I will sing a lullaby.” She says, “Yes, that’s right.” He says, “Thomas Dekker. You’re a fan of 17th century poetry?” She says, “Actually, I’m a Beatles fan. When I found out they used one of his poems, I looked him up.”

                                From Wikipedia:

"Golden Slumbers" is based on the poem "Cradle Song", a lullaby by the dramatist Thomas Dekker. The poem appears in Dekker's 1603 comedy Patient Grissel. McCartney saw sheet music for "Cradle Song" at his father's home in Liverpool, left on a piano by his stepsister Ruth. Unable to read music, he created his own music.[1][2] McCartney uses the first stanza of the original poem, with minor word changes,[4] adding to it a single lyric line repeated with minor variation. In the 1885 collection "St Nicholas Songs", p. 177, is W J Henderson's music set to the poem, titled " Golden Slumbers Kiss Your Eyes". Abbey Road does not credit Dekker with the stanza or with the title. Thomas Dekker's poem was set to music by W J Henderson in 1885, Peter Warlock in 1918, also by Charles Villiers Stanford and Alfredo Casella.[5]

To pass the time, they play the game Which One Is A Lie? Fred’s character says, “ I have webbed toes. I love The Beatles. I can’t roll my tongue.” Guard: “Loving the Beatles is the lie!”  “Right! I just can’t get into them. Too many descending arpeggios.”  Guard: “Ahh!”

Wednesday on The Goldbergs, which takes place in the 1980s, Erica wants to go to the Avant Garde Music Festival and asks her boyfriend Geoff to get tickets. She tells her college roommate “There’s a rumor that Yoko Ono is going to scream onstage for a whole hour!” Geoff didn’t understand what she wanted tickets for, so he bought ones for her favorite band, The Hooters. When Erica finds out she freaks out and yells at him, “I cannot miss this festival, okay? Yoko Ono is finally going to free herself from the shadow of her husband’s bubblegum band!” Geoff: “You mean The Beatles?”

The Italian men’s figure skater, Matteo Rizzo, skated to Come Together, Let It Be (piano cover) and Help! tonight.

Former figure skater and now commentator, Johnny Weir, was talking about his performance and said  “The Beatles didn’t hurt either!”
