Paul Being Loved
-
Many British love and appreciate Paul. They don't all give him the notoriously brutal Brit tongue lashing. That's a generalization and untrue. Many Englishmen and Englishwomen revere him as a national treasure. Paul Mc. has garnered many glorious glowing reviews of his concerts and albums, during his career--countless more positive reviews than negative ones. He's been honored with numerous awards and prizes including some of the highest most prestigious accolades. He has inspired many to go into the Arts. And many will be eternally grateful to him for his efforts in improving their musical appreciation, enriching their lives immeasurably
and helping them ROCK
-
That is good to hear. IT would be neat if some of the people I know saw it that way.
-
i know some people think he is egocentric (whatever the right word is). for example, status quo accussed him of "hugging the stage" during a concert event. for me, it's just self-respect. considering his status, it's a good decision for sir paul to always perform last during various artists' concert. respect yourself or else others will not respect you. let's face it, he isn't just "one of the guys," he is - and will always be - sir paul/beatle.
-
Well, we all know Paul has always had a big ego. Remember how he told Brian Epstein that even if the Beatles didn't make it that he was going to be a big star (solo) I agree with you, he will always be "Beatle and Sir Paul." He needs to cut out (change) some of his concert banter, especially the "drink it all in" line. I cringe every time I hear that! That being said, he is remarkably down to earth for someone with his status and money. The fact that he showed up in Times Square & Covent Garden and played for free says a lot. ("We'll be passing a hat around, we're just busking.")

Good PR. Promoting his album perhaps?

It's sadly telling of human nature that the Paul Being Hated topic is more popular than this one, or anyway, has been more read. Even fans were morbidly drawn to the negative-sounding title of that thread, morbidly curious--the title appealed to their dark side. We've all got one but some are darker than others. We've all got an "alligator"
. Still, I'm glad I cringed when I saw that heading "Paul Being Hated," I'm proud I did. I'd much rather read a "Paul Being Loved." Not that I'm saintly, ha ha.

I started that thread. It wasn't meant to appeal to the dark side I was just curious as to why people hated Paul and loved John and George more since other people told me stuff and I've read on the internet about people hating Paul when I looked him up. I think it was misunderstood.
-
Yes, I think you were misunderstood, but seems like you can see how your thread title might feel like a slap in the face to an avid Paul fan.

Maybe I should have titled the thread why is Paul hated? But there was no need for me to be called names by another member that wasn't nice. I also feel that when John gets elevated at Paul's expense it isn't fair to Paul. I've heard alot about Paul ahving an ego or his music being girl's music and so on and I got tired of it so I posted stuff on here or that Paul needs to retire. When I posted Paul being hated thread and ggot called names it makes me afraid to post threads because of this other member. Thi member has come across mean in other threads evne though he or she may not mean it that way. This is why I don't post much on here.
-
If a certain member annoys you, just ignore his or her posts and don't read theirs
You shouldn't let that drive you away--it's just words on a screen!

You're right I'll just ignore them. I don't even know them and they don't know me. Even if the poster doesn't like my thread they shouldn't post. I don't feel like I should delete it just because the member said so unless it is really offensive or disrespectful to Paul which wasn't my intention. Nobody can drive me away from here. Anybody can type anything on the internet and get away with it. Who knows they may be different in real life than they are on here. Even the nicest person on here can be mean in real life. I've even seen somebody post as Paul on Jorie Gracen's website and answer my question. I'm not even sure whether it was really Paul or not. I hope it was.

had to get rid of the myth and now im coming here to show my Grattitude. its a little idvidual but I just feel it to be right to tell my story. Im quite sure people would of had the same sort of feeling at times so it sorta relates to everyone... if it wernt for Paul, I would of never started up piano, would of never tried to excel in guitar, would of never wanted to show how I feel or anything through music, would of never got into the arts and I just would of never challenged myself to excel as a musician. I have to thank paul for all of this. there were so many things I would of never done if not for Paul. He may not have a lot of fans in the little town of Adelaide but there is always me. I may be just one small everday "crazy fans" but the thing is, he may never know how much hes given to me, and all of us. even to the "EH PAUL SUKS,ect", they just don't want to realise. In some ways, if I didn't have the opportunity to see what Paul has given, I don't think I would actually be sitting here typing this at this very minuet. I would of just had noting and would of given up to peer pressure and complete misery. Its sort of hard to say all of this at once... but I just feel its right to say it. I dared to find the key. thank you especially for reading this.

Which is a better discussion: "He is no good." "Yes, he is. Because...." "And...." "Not to mention...." or "I love him." "I love him, too." "I love him more."

Yes, the Arabian lady made a good point. Made me think about how good can be mixed up with bad and good can come from bad, etc. It still can hurt to read certain vicious, scathing aspersions on a favorite artist. Ringo in Adelaide contributed pithy, poignant and moving observations and a personal story that illustrates one of my points well. The Fabs and Paul got a lot of people into the Arts
for which they deserve oodles of respect, if nothing else. Thanks, Ringo
I didn't want to hurt Paulfan's feelings. Looks like I did, tried to smooth it over and rectify matters--he didn't mean any of the offensive insults himself, doesn't believe them, himself. And anyway everyone has the right to their own opinion, even the haters. It's interesting, intriguing, for example when you come across expressions of strong dislike for the album "New" and various songs in it. So much love and appreciation has been lavished on "New" and the whole album, and seeing other reactions make you want even more to hear it and find out for yourself.

Yes, Paul is widely respected in his home land. of course, he was made an MBE in 1965 and was knighted in 1997, so he is seen as sort of part of the establishment and then he is also "one of us" despite his massive success. Music wise, there are a lot of the generl public who will sadly only think of Pauls more....leyts say cheesy.........solo hits from the 80's rather than the great solo work of the same time period and up to now. He got a lot of media backlash after the Olympic performance last year with many saying (many who weren't fans anyway) he should "pack it in". This greatly annoyed me. However, he has had nothing but media love since the release of New, which I approve.

i think people love paul 'cause he's a great musician, a wonderful composer and a fantastic singer. personnally, as a fan, i'm not very objective but i believe he's a kind man. As i like to say "nobody's perfect" ! But when i see the joy on the faces of people at his lives and when i consider how his music is an important thing in my life, i think that 's enough to understand why people love him !
