'Hitch Hike' at the Apollo Theater
-
You may or may not have clocked it, but Macca played a version of the Marvin Gaye track Hitch Hike at his gig at the Apollo in New York yesterday - featuring a bevvy of female backing dancers...as well as a number of technical difficulties. For those of you who haven't seen it, here's a link to it on You Tube:
Have to say that - technical mishaps to one side, it's a pretty cracking little version; also, it shows that when he does something a little out of the ordinary in the set, that he can still surprise vocally. Good stuff. -
It was all the talk last night. That -- and Maybe I'm Amazed. I'm not sure what people's spiritual beliefs are, but I'm convinced to the core that the technical problems were due to deceased -- but jubilant -- Apollo stars who have passed on ... and came back to make their collective "presence" known for the show.

I'm not particularly spiritual but that was my first thought when it happened , lol. Pretty sure that had to be Marvin himself making his presence known.

I've experienced similar things so the thought occurred to me as well.

Yes, but evidently many were Sirius employees.

These type of songs fit McCartney so well, that is why I loved "Rough Ride" from "Flowers In The Dirt".

Wow, looks like one of those electric-magnetic experiences. Loved the song.
-
i never heard that song before "hitch hike" but it was very catchy; I'm glad Paul performed it. I thought Paul handled the mishap with class and humor. I never thought of a 'spiritual' aspect of the mishap, but yeah, I agree, it could be true.

Paul does a great job of vocal mimicry on some of his covers. I'm appreciating this more listening to Band on the Run Radio which has featured his versions of Lucille (Little Richard) and That's All Right Mama (Elvis).

^ Didn't you ever listen to Oobu Joobu Radio Show?

No. Would like to, though.

Is there a place to get the oobu joobu? Would love that. I am really enjoying this Hitch Hike video... those girls really have it down... except they must have had a hard time finding white shiny go-go boots... Loved them shaking their head and the hair thing... I remember that... although back then many of us had hair down to there... shoulder length and longer.. Oh and then I like the Charlie's Angels thing they did at the end... cute

I could dig up my Flaming Pie CD-singles. Lots of Oobu Joobu footage were included as bonus tracks.
-
I LOVE that Paul did Hitch Hike... The go-go dancers must dance together regularly because they picked up the steps pretty quickly after the mishaps. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Paul should make that part of his show.

Here's Marvin's dancers:
