Thinking of John Lennon on this day for sure ...... I prefer to celebrate his Birthday and think of the many ways I enjoyed his creativity ...... his songs with The Beatles and as a solo artist .... his writings, drawings ..... as a strong part of a soundtrack through my early days ..... and today as well as I listen to some John Lennon songs as I type this ... an inspiration for me to do some creative things like songwriting, fun story writing, fun poems and yes drawings and cartoons ...... good or bad .... I enjoy doing them So glad he was part of one of the Greatest Bands that have ever known ... he gave this world so many treasures in his songs Peace .... "and you were Here Today ...."

No John Lennon. No Beatles. Simple as that. I can't imagine growing up in a world without The Beatles.

No John, no Beatles. No Paul, no Beatles. Am watching a Queen special. What a front man was Freddie. They were a brilliant band. Stones, with another great front man, Mick Jagger. Even if they will always be known as the little brother to the Beatles. And deservedly so. They should be happy to be runners-up in that battle. A great honour. INXS... Michael Hutchence. U2... Bono. The Doors... Jim Morrison. Another reason why the Beatles were so unique. They had two front men. And a brilliant third player that provided one of Sinatra's favourites. Difference being those two front men - equal on every level - also played instruments. In the studio and live. Never had the liberty - and thank God - to pick up a mic in their hands and sing. Never have had to see them with a headset mic, thank Christ, doing their jiggle. Always with a guitar in their hand. Another reason why the Beatles are quite simply the greatest band - and enigma - that every graced the musical landscape.

No John, no Beatles. No Paul, no Beatles. No George, no Beatles. No Ringo, no Beatles. There is nothing to indicate the Beatles were signed merely on the merits of John and Paul. They were signed and made it as a UNIT. John was clearly leading the ship in the early to mid years of the Beatles. From 1963-66, he tended to field most of the interview questions, and A Hard Day's Night was almost a Lennon solo album. Watch the footage of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964. It is a BAND. All three up front are "front men" including George. And Ringo was in your face. A drummer never got as much camera time as Ringo did that evening! The more I read, it seems almost precarious how the Beatles were signed by George Martin. So much could have gone wrong, and in many ways, was going wrong. It was almost providence that everything fell into place. Within a year they were on their way to being the biggest act in the world.

You're kinda misinterpreting things by presuming I am discounting George and Ringo. Not at all. Merely lauding the fact that most bands have ONE front man. The Beatles had two. And a very handy third who was a special musician on his own level. And Ringo was an immensely importannt cog in the wheel.
