The 1st single off their last album (title track) was significantly remixed by George Martin from the album version (Phil Spector). If Paul and George hated TLAWD album version so much, why didnt Paul have George do the same to this single as well?

Actually, its the other way around! Paul loved the original George Martin album version of "The Long And Winding Road" because it was only the four Beatles performing on that song. When Phil Spector took over, he would add the orchestra sound to "The Long And Winding Road" which would anger Paul. In reality, Phil Spector would change the sound of the entire "GET BACK" album and change the album to "LET IT BE." I truly believe that another fellow Beatles fanatic can help answer this question.
