I agree! I always wondered about his first wife and kids. I knew from reading Tune In that he had an affair with Judy while still married to his first wife.

As Billy Joel sang, "It's a sad, sad situation." Makes me glad to be an only child! I can understand him cutting his son Greg out of the will, because of his past actions and Sir George had already bailed him out to the tune of 100,000 pounds, but feel sorry for his daughter.

I don't think George Martin made much money from EMI in the 60's while actually producing the Beatles. My guess is he made most of his fortune on his own (e.g., his own studio) in the 70's and later on from the many opportunities being the Beatles' ex-producer afforded him. This probably complicates things, but many would argue it shouldn't. Very sad.

I think the ?400m figure is grossly exaggerated. That's more than what George Harrison left in his will, and I'm sure George H did better out of the Beatles connection than George M did.

They all say around $400 million. I found it difficult to believe his claim in his bio that he wasn't rich and never made the royalties that he could have on producing some of the hottest acts in history. I mean, who says, "That's too much money for me," but that's basically what he did say in the last chapter of his bio.

This happens not only in families where a parent is famous. I never gave George having an earlier family a thought. Whatever, it was his money to do with as he wished. I doubt there is anything the daughter can do.

Lots of people may have said that about Julian Lennon before he took Yoko to court. If she has evidence of undue influence, she may come out all right.

It doesn't read as if it's all about the money though (some yes, but not all) - it reads as more that she feels ignored... many first families often feel like this if the parent goes on to favour their younger children.

Unfortunate situation that only is creating a bigger rift in the relationship of both sides. Just as sad as the Zappa situation of late.

Does not appear to be much of a relationship amongst the siblings.

No, it doesn't appear there is a relationship between the siblings. You can't force a father who no longer wanted to be there to have been there. Sadly for the first family, George moved on a long time ago. I do feel for her, but I doubt anything will change. Depends on how the will is written and when. If written when George was of sound mind, it will most likely stand. It is also true that it can cost more fighting a will than you get out of it and more people get hurt.

I'm sure she's considered both points. She seems smart. But, editing to say we don't know them. Immediately comes to mind if her dad was producing the Beatles, why wasn't she there at the studio feigning some excuse to visit dad when they were in the studio recording? Maybe he didn't live that close to his first family geographically. As his daughter, I would have very well figured out how to meet them. Another thing comes to mind, sometimes children of divorced parents will side with the injured party when there is another woman/man in the equation. Is this what happened? Maybe she didn't want to spend time with her dad and was angry with him. She doesn't say. Maybe they made up later in life, though it doesn't appear they were close after she grew up. There are too many pieces of the puzzle missing for me to really form a concrete opinion.
