Should Fabs Have Done "Tutti Fruity" ?
-
While reading a (for the most part bogus) Lennon biography I dreamed that night while in slumber that I kept hearing the Beatles (John the lead singer on this) singing Little Richard's "Tutti Fruiti" over and over, and they sounded wonderful singing this, by one of their music faves. "I'm gonna sing a song of love to you one more time/tutti fruiti, the beauty's on duty"--imagine them performing this, hear it in your head, don't they sound great? They've probably done this before just jamming, messin' around. I wish they had released their version.

Nah, they did a lot of good covers, but I'm much more interested in their original work. Besides, no one can ever top Pat Boone's cover of "Tutti Fruiti."
-
LOL!!! John did a killer Slippin' and Slidin though...
-
Digressing but in a similar vein...I'd have liked the Fabs to have done an EMI recorded cover of Hippy Hippy Shake. Still, Swinging Blue Jeans nailed it!

"A wop bop aloo bop, a wop bam boom!" Yeah, I can hear The Beatles doing this, but with Paul singing. He always did the Little Richard songs, while John always did the Chuck Berry numbers.
-
Didn't they used to do Tutti Frutti in Hamburg (with Paul singing)? P.S. The original lyrics: Tutti Frutti, good booty If it don't fit, don't force it You can grease it, make it easy

** Not to mention his great cover version of "Speedy Gonzales"!!!

'Mr. Moonlight' as a cover choice is very suspect. Wish John had covered a Buddy Holly tune like 'Rave On' instead. Fits John's style & he could have rocked out on it. Buddy was 1 of John's big idols, so surprised he never did a cover of Buddy.

Does "words of love" not count then?

He also did "Peggy Sue" on his "Rock 'n' Roll" album.

I wish Ringo would get together with Richard Perry for a redux of "Honey Don't" in the slower, deliberate style of the 1974 "Ringo" album, with a "Duane Eddy" style guitar, sliding-but-slower two finger double notes lead.

I'm never eating at IHOP again.

"Mr. Moonlight" also played in my sleeping brain for much of that night, LOL, and some others where John really tore it up (vocals) and screamed and hollered as only he could (Macca's no slouch at screaming either!). Ugh are those naughty lyrics really part of "Tutti Fruity"--rather explicit
ops: I think maybe it was Leon Russell's later version sung by John that I heard whilst slumbering. Do the lyrics also go: "I gotta girl/named Sue/ She knows just what to do" LOL in Little Richard's "Tutti"

Speaking of IHOP, where did Heather Mills work before she married Paul and why? I take it that everyone knows this!
