For those that have done the sound check before, do most folks bring in a sign? I'm wondering whether to just enjoy the experience or spend the time to make and lug around a sign that might have little impact.

Quite a few "soundcheckers" bring signs with them. In every soundcheck I've attended, Paul did take time to read a few. In addition, those at the SC will be sitting very close to the stage at the concert...another reason you may want to have one.

Are you squished into adjoining seats during the sound check, or are you allowed to spread out and move around so long as you stay in your row? I definitely want to dance and I don't want to block anyone's view with my sign.

It depends on the venue and how the available (soundcheck) seating is set up. Everyone is escorted to a seat about 30 or so rows back from the stage. You're allowed to stand and dance...in fact you're encouraged to do so. If you're sitting in a row that has a "gap" in front of you, you can move around. You cannot move forward past a certain point, however. You'll have a great time!! Hope that helps...

Thanks for the reply. Its my dream to be able to swing my arms freely and dance about with Paul playing. You have to be more reserved during the show since everyone is nearly shoulder to shoulder there. I'll gladly move a few more rows back if it means I can do what I like in my own space. We'll all be much closer during the actual show.

I'll be bringing a sign but I won't be going to soundcheck unfortunately.

Do people tend to go crazy with colors, or keep it mroe simple on signs? Simple is boring, but has the best chance of being read. Any thoughts?

"Crazy" or "simple" is your choice...just be sure the message is large and clear enough to be read at a distance (ie: soundcheck)...good luck!

Last summer in Indy, I was next to a guy that just wanted to sit, which is fine..but everytime I held up my sign he would get annoyed at me & make remarks about me being in his way...So I ended up moving into the aisle so he had view back & I had mine. Everyone was happy

I go back so far,I'm in front of me

So long as they are flexible about moving around during the soundcheck, this sounds like a good plan.

Yes. You can't move forward past a certain point but you can move from one side to the other or stand in an aisle. I don't like having signs held up in front of me, either, when I am trying to see Paul.

Depending on how many people are at the sound check, I hope we can all have our personal space (with arms extended and singing as loud as we can!)

Most of us had a specific seat last year in Memphis. They filed us in and we ended up in 3 or 4 rows all the way across the floor. I noticed some people stayed further back near the sound board so they had room to move around and/or dance.

Did they let you move after everyone filed in, or did those that went backwards not take an initial seat?

I went to the soundcheck in Austin last year, and you could move around all you wanted. You just cannot go closer to the stage than the row they set, which is like 30-40 rows back. But behind that, you are free We did not have specific seats. About half the people stood down at the row that was set & danced etc, to be as close as they could I guess. Others just sat in the seats right above the floor seats, or wandered around as they wished. There are employees who keep an eye on you but it wasn't strict at the soundcheck I was at.
