I couldn't do it last night, but I'm going to play the first Traveling Wilburys album tonight, and probably cry my eyes out. RIP Tom -- and George and Roy.

I love the whole album, but if I had to pick one favorite track, End of the Line is it. And now I don't think I can ever hear it without choking up.

JASON ALDEAN makes a surprise appearance on SNL (10/07/2017) performing "I WON'T BACK DOWN"
And then after the Live NBC broadcast, a repeat from November 1979 with Buck Henry as host and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers as the musical guest. The band performed "Refugee" and "Don't Do Me Like That." Ironic twist that Jason was performing I WON'T BACK DOWN. Sam Smith was the musical guest on that October broadcast. Back in 2014, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne (The Beatles, "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love"/Paul McCartney "Flaming Pie" LP) alerted the parties representing Sam Smith and the songwriters (one of them being Smith himself) that Smith's 2014 song "Stay With Me" sounded like "I Won't Back Down." Both parties settled with Petty and Lynne being co-writers on the Smith song. Both songs published by Sony/ATV. The host of the October SNL was Gal Gadot. -

GIRLS by Dwight Twilley featuring vocals by Tom Petty
YOU GOT IT by Roy Orbison, composed by Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty: and -
For anyone unfamiliar, "You Got It" was from Roy Orbison's great comeback album, "Mystery Girl." It's one of the best things this extraordinary singer ever did but, sadly, he died too soon to see its success. The whole album is excellent, but my favorite track is the Elvis Costello-penned "The Comedians." If you don't know it, it's worth searching out.

Thanks for posting those video links, oobu !! Can't wait to hear these different versions by some stellar artists. I always thought Tom Petty tried to emulate Bob Dylan's singing voice...or I used to think that...sounded like Dylan's to me. Anybody else think so?
