What did Yoko have that Cynthia didn't?
-
I think it was mental stimulation because she was in the know regarding avant guard and other topics that John found fascinating, interesting, etc. Not that Cynthia wasn't intelligent, just she didn't travel in those circles. Her whole life seemed to be family centered, and for whatever reason, John wouldn't fight for that, disrespected her and Julian, once Yoko took hold. What does anyone else think on this subject?
-
First off, it's avant garde. And that was the first thing that fascinated John. I was actually surprised that he found her attractive, since she was nowhere near conventionally beautiful. John had been more shallow in the past. See, John was 20-21 years old, has this girlfriend Cynthia he writes steamy love letters to from Germany, professing his love for her (all the while cheating on her like crazy) She gets pregnant when he's still 21 so he "does the right thing" and marries her, but he doesn't want to be a husband, let alone a father at 22! They basically had not a lot in common besides sex. Their marriage was doomed to failure since John was not vested in it at all.

Nancy, why so nasty? Yes, I knew it was misspelled and was too lazy to look it up. No need to crucify me because I, occasionally, take a day off. Actually, they were both artists, liked the same music, and probably liked lots of the same foods, to name a few. Cynthia was a classy, beautiful person and everything I've read has said John liked classy people.

I suppose John was the only Beatle to be faced with such a situation. If you look at the "yesterday" area. Go to the "beatles sons and daughters thread" and go to page 2, you will find the answer to the question, Fan 4 45 years. ??

Hi Hey_Kittay! Ok. I'll look at that. I'm interested in seeing lots of different takes on this question and what lots of people think. Also, didn't John sing "She done me GOOD"? I've always thought that was part of the equation.
-
I am sure there are more than one explanations/reasons. Have fun researching.

Yes, I bet the sex was way different than what he was used to.

Every one of them got one of their wives pregnant and "had" to get married, I know that! It was John who was not mature enough to handle it, nor did he care enough to work on the marriage.

You're reading something into this that was not there. I wasn't trying to be nasty, just stating a fact. How was I supposed to know that you knew it was misspelled? P.S. Yes, they were both artists, but unfortunately Cynthia was pushed into the background by Brian (a Beatle shouldn't be married) and since she had Julian to take care of, any career she may have had fell by the wayside. I think John loved certain things about her, but the "lure" of Yoko was just too great.

Maybe this topic should be in "Yesterday" (?) Anyways, John and Cyn had a lot in common at the time. He did seem besotted with her in art school and for some time after. Yoko was something quite different, which he was ready for when she came along. He said he could really talk to Yoko and have deep interesting conversations he found amazing. (Some thought she had hypnotized him!) I've read Cynthia's writings, her remarks in interviews, etc. and she was no dumb bunny, could be funny and witty. I think she held John's interest pretty well for a few years. (Didn't prevent his constant "cheating"!) He also "stepped out" on Yoko off and on, according to various reports in books. And she did as well. (Considering what happened to John, I'm glad he had a lot of fun in that area!)

Kittay, I looked at page two (Yesterday) Beatles Sons and Daughters, and didn't see a picture of Cynthia there

I looked there too and couldn't figure out what we were supposed to be seeing. (Thanks to the Mod who moved this thread to Yesterday)

Who did George get pregnant? Ringo was mature enough to be a dad, but wasn't faithful to Maureen. PAul got Dot pregnant back in about 1962 and she hadn't had a miscarriage, smart money says that would have been a marriage that went a similar route to John and cyn's. Though Paul might have had more natural father instincts.

John and Cynthia seemed almost exact opposites in many ways. It didn't seem they had much in common. I also felt John resented having to be a family man during the heyday of the 60s with so much going on. Meanwhile Yoko was like looking in a mirror to John. Not hard to see this split happening.

George got Olivia pregnant! Dhani was born Aug. 1, 1978 and they finally got married Sept. 8, 1978! Paul got Dot pregnant in early 1960 when he wasn't even 18 yet and she was 16. If they had gotten married as they planned and she'd had the baby, there would have been no Beatles as his dad would have made him stay with a "proper" job. (Plus I think Paul would have been responsible enough to not run off with the band to Hamburg that August.) And of course Linda was pregnant with Mary when they got married, and Maureen was pregnant with Zak when she married Ringo.

Forgot about Olivia, was just thinking about the 1960's. George did marry Patti without a pregnancy involved, so there was one in that time period.

True about Patti, but she had a fertility problem!!!

So.... what did Yoko have that Cynthia didn't? In the end, Yoko had John Lennon, Cynthia didn't All I have to say is that Yoko must have been great in bed, as many Japanese Women are!
