George's Apple Years box set is coming...
-
According to a few websites (chiefly examiner.com) Dhani has posted a photo and a cryptic comment on Instagram that suggests he has finished work on a box set of George's first seven albums on Apple. Here's a link to the examiner.com page: http://www.examiner.com/article/george-harrison-remasters-box-set-could-be-the-works A possible September 22 release date is mentioned.

I hope he does a better job on the packaging etc than that other crappy Apple box set. I still need to return mine to Amazon as the box arrived all crinkled.

That was myself that asked the question to Dhani. Great news!

Ooh more stuff of George's coming out! I wants it!
Gotta get that new biography of George too. George is pretty much my hero in life. Anything new of his coming out I gotta get it.

Really? How cool! Thanks! I hear it will have seven discs, but the question is: which seven? We've already had ATMP, Bangla Desh, and LITMW remastered this century. Do we have to buy them again? Surely, we'll have to have: Wonderwall Music Electronic Sound Dark Horse Extra Texture Adding the aforementioned re-releases, that would be nine discs, correct? Or maybe they'll leave out Bangla Desh?
-
But if you remember George's notes for the AMTP reissue, he said he was tempted to strip away all of Phil Spector's production. What are the chances of that this time?
-
Dhani said "albums" not "discs", so straight out remasters of his first seven solo albums I'd say (Wonderwall, Electronic Sound, ATMP, Concert for Bangladesh, LITMW, Dark Horse and Extra Texture). I know the Bangladesh album isn't a true George solo album but I think Dhani was including it in his count of seven Apple albums. At best, we'll be lucky to get some b-sides, the studio version of the song Bangladesh, the odd demo and a couple of video clips (in the same vein as the Dark Horse Years box).

Yes, I suppose you're right. I wonder where they'll stick the studio version of "Bangla Desh," on LITMW with "Deep Blue"? And will they re-remaster ATMP, BD, and LITMW? I can't imagine what bonus content they'd have for the first two albums (do we need ES to go on longer?), and we know "I Don't Care Anymore" will go on Dark Horse. For Extra Texture, maybe we'll get a demo... or hey, maybe that weird version of "This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying)" that Dave Stewart mixed several years ago; remember that? It was never actually released, just heard online, I believe. Aaa, probably not, maybe just a demo!

I liked George. Here's an article about his sister, but who knows if it is true: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2514041/Beatle-George-Harrisons-sister-Louise-82-lives-broke-rural-Missouri.html

^I'd seen that article about Louise before...I think it's true. She's also working on memoirs that she hopes to sell and make $$ with. Very sad.

I think someone said John's two sisters were put out of their houses by Yoko after John died. It boggles the mind, doesn't it? With the millions that the widows are left with, continuing with helping the siblings out could only be pocket change for them and they won't even give that. Maybe that's just my perception and I don't know how hard multi-millionaire widows have it.

George should have seen to it that Olivia/Dhani etc could not have done that. Disgusting story and really shows Olivia in a bad light I think--maybe she's sending the extra money to her own relatives in Mexico, I don't know, but I'd love to see her interviewed and questioned on this story!

Hey, what do you know! According to this article: http://wogew.blogspot.com/2014/08/george-harrison-apple-years-shows-up.html the Platinum Weird version of "This Guitar" will be on ET. And "Bangla Desh" will be added to LITMW along with "Deep Blue" and "Miss O'Dell." ATMP and LITMW have been remastered again (!) and there will be a bonus DVD. More info in the article.

As with all things, there's probably more to this than we know. Louise managing a Beatles Tribute band and George didn't like it that she tried to use the Beatles to make money? It sounds a little self-serving to me. She's not entitled to George's wealth, after all.

Well it seems that George thought she was entitled to at least part of it--Olivia and Dhani apparently have a different idea. They could at least have given her all or some of the auction proceeds from that guitar of George's that was recently auctioned at the HRC--he bought it at a local music shop when he went to visit his sister Louise from what I recall, although I'm not sure if they were still the owners of the guitar.

I do not believe Olivia and Dhani would go against George's wishes if that's what he wanted. He had a lot of time to plan before his passing and he had things pretty well set up the way he wanted. Otherwise she could contest it legally and that was never mentioned. That's why I believe there's more to it than Louise said or was in the article.

Seems like an official announcement is due on Tuesday.

Would be nice if the DVD contained video of his '74 Tour!
