I know it has been over twenty years, and it is much easier to recall and get excited about more recent tours. However, I think the 1993 tour was fantastic, and boasted an even better set list than the 1989-90 tour, IMO. Songs like Penny Lane, Fixing A Hole, Here There and Everywhere, Magical Mystery Tour, Paperback Writer and Drive My Car made it a really special concert event. I got to see this tour in Las Cruces, NM and then in Boulder, CO. The outdoor settings were great, and the staging was awesome. Any one else feel the same?

Damn, I missed that Philly show, but a friend got me a copy of the program. Thanks for the link! I never dreamed at the time that it would take another nine years for him to come back around!

I watched this in its entirety the other night. "C'mon People" was the "Hey Jude"* of the main set, and it was incredibly effective. This is a great show! *=the real Hey Jude was the final encore

I agree, I loved that song in concert, especially with the photos of the Beatles projected on the screen.

How come you only listed Beatles songs as standouts? Why not any solo works? 😉

Honestly, I deliberately listed the cool Beatles songs that came to mind that he had never played live before or that he could be doing today if he wanted to. As for solo tunes, by this time, he had already started the annoying trend of just playing tunes from his current release, so decided not to "go there" so to speak. What exactly was I supposed to list? We all know what he played from Off The Ground. He didn't even acknowledge Flowers In The Dirt!!

                            Worry not. I got it.

And that is certainly a strong point. I didn't necessarily expect to hear "Rough Ride" at the Memphis '93 show, but I definitely expected "My Brave Face." But I guess the writing was on the wall when he didn't do any songs from Flowers song at the Unplugged gig, two years prior to the New World Tour. I thought: "Surely, he's gonna do "Put It There."

I thought he did Put It There at the Unplugged gig! My memory is going. In 1989 he opened with Figure of Eight, then Jet, then Rough Ride, then Got To Get You Into My Life. We didn't hear a Beatle song until the fourth tune. In 1993, Drive My Car opened, then Coming Up, then Looking For Changes. So, things kind of reversed four years later.

Nope. A sign of things to come.

This One and My Brave Face are my two favorite (solo) tracks on Tripping the Live Fantastic (from the 89- 90 tour). Always hoped he bring at least one of them back.

I agree! I saw him play those in 1989 and they were GREAT live.

The sad thing is I figured something like "My Brave Face" would be a keeper, uptempo and sounded very "Beatleish" to me.

                                            Maybe I'm amazed !!
