The New World Tour of 1993

Getting back to the tour: I hate it that I lost my copy of the FREE tour-program they gave out at the show. There were some funny stories in that thing -- especially the one about Wix setting his keyboard wrong at a concert on the previous tour. He played a loud orchestral effect during that quiet piano part for "The End." I would pay good money to hear audio of that.

Ok getting off topic for just one second again, speaking of lost tour programs, somewhere in a box in my dad's basement HAS to be a copy of my Michael Jackson program from the 1988 Bad Tour. I dig through boxes every time I go back home.

I might have an extra one. I will check when I am at home.

Do we know if there's audio of that hilarious Wix error?

Never heard it. That would be funny, though!

Which show was it from?

It happened at one of the '89/'90 shows. Hopefully, we'll find out the city/date when "RMartinez" locates his '93 program.

Paul made me make good on saying that if he ever came to Boulder (where I was living), I would be in the front row, no matter the cost. I didn't score the tickets until the day of the show. Robbie's side of the stage, but the arm came right over us. Lots of attention from Linda's camera and from Paul. My scalper tickets cost $250 each. Two women sitting beside us bought from the same scalper the day the tickets went on sale for $500 each. Seems like a bargain by today's standards. The actual ticket buying was quite an experience as it was cash only and I paid with $20 bills.

Found it, but it doesn't say what city, merely that it happened in front of 70,000 people.

It really is amazing how the ticket-buying experience has changed. All that waiting in line if you bought on the day they went on sale, and the prices we used to pay seem so paltry now! Just reading the Fab Four FAQ 2.0 book, which says that the top price for ticket scalpers for George's Bangladesh concerts in 1971 was $20.
Great story about your experience at Paul's show!

For the Las Cruces NM show in 1993, a friend and I waited in line in Albuquerque since the night before to get tickets at a local ticket outlet. Tickets were $35 and we were amazed at how expensive they were!

Live in Japan 1993:

I had no idea that he did "No Other Baby" at the Japan thing. Was that a soundcheck? Hamish totally totally fell asleep at the wheel at that cool-riff part of "Get Out Of My Way."
Dumb question: Is "Lindy Lou" a song for Linda?

It should be. Her name was Linda Louise.

Cool info!
-
Paul and Linda showed each other a lot of affection on stage in those days. I would guess Lindy Lou was a song about Linda. In 1990, when I saw Paul for the first time, Paul introduced her as Gertrude Higgins. I thought $35 was high also, but I was determined to be in the front row and did it with no soundcheck nonsense.

Those were the good ole days! Buy a ticket to the Rock Show and GO!! No soundcheck, hot flash package, VIP package, etc. VERY confusing these days! Ha ha!

I don't think Paul wrote Lindy Lou, I think it is his interpretation of an old rockabilly song. But obviously appropriate for Linda! I haven't seen that soundcheck video in a few years, fun to see it again. Note how many of those songs Paul still does in his soundchecks.
