Watching him own that bass on "Another Day" is mind-blowing. Classic Paul stuff there.

      I agree! Amazing!

Yeah, Paul McCartney doesn't play bass like that anymore. My guess is that he underplays to preserve his energy for such a long show. "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Day Tripper" are the only songs where he gives the goods these days.

Paul does a real good job on bass for "...Benefit of Mr. Kite".

Indeed!!!! It's the best part of the song in my book.

Ah, but he has to play Paperback Writer on the one he originally played when the song was recorded, you know that!

I GUESS!! He could buy a new guitar and play it on that. I have learned over the years the tone comes from the musician, not so much from the instrument!

It is awesome that he tours with so many older instruments. I wouldn't want them shipped around the world!

Yeah, they are tools. Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick and other guitarists play very collectable guitars in concert, worth tens of thousands of dollars. On the flipside, if something were to happen, Paul could afford to buy another! That being said, I don't go to a Paul show to see his guitars. Except that darn violin bass!

I was at the Liberty Bowl with my friends sitting on the 10th row dead center stage. Paul's drummer for the tour was Memphian Blair Cunningham (his older brother was Otis Redding's drummer). Anyhoo, to make a long story short, Paul introduced Blair with the following: "Welcome home Blairington'. Wonderful spring night and great music!

That's true. I recall Macca saying: "We've got a hometown boy in the band tonight" or something close to that. (can't believe there is hardly any audio around of that show)

Funny - he said the same thing here in Boston years later regarding Abe (who went to school at Berkley School of Music right here in Boston)...For the longest time, I thought that to mean Abe was from this area (vs the school related stay just referenced)

The New World Tour in '93 was fantastic at Anaheim Stadium. I had not seen a stadium concert since Pink Floyd at the same place in 1977. The sound was crystal clear, and the huge video screens were amazing. Highlights for me were Fixing A Hole with the full band, and Biker Like An Icon. C'mon People was awesome too. Love the Paul Is Live CD, but the DVD of the tour stinks. There is a pretty great sounding bootleg of this complete concert also.

US Tour - HP Pavilion - San Jose - 11/08/05. An Evening with Paul McCartney - The Joint at Hard Rock - Las Vegas - 4/19/09. Up & Coming Tour - Hollywood Bowl - 3/31/10. Walk of Fame Star Presentation - Hollywood - Feb. 2012. CBS-TV taping - The Night That Changed America (with Ringo!)  - L.A. Convention Center - Jan. 2014. Out There Tour -Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles - Aug. '14 and Petco Park - San Diego - Sept. '14. I agree! I loved those songs live! I saw the show after Anaheim in Las Cruces, NM and it was amazing. I have a really good recording of the New Mexico show.

Btw, I think the better quality boot from this tour is from Charlotte, NC. It had been broadcast on FOX at the time...for the longest time, all I could find were versions of that recording with the commercials cutting out a few of the songs...but I recently saw the entire show uninterrupted on YouTube, which leads me to believe a full boot exists

My Las Cruces recording is really good, but the Charlotte recording is professional I believe, so, yeah, it will be the better quality one. I remember when that concert first aired on FOX, the audio was horrible! I think it was a direct feed without any reverb or balance or effects. Later versions corrected this.

I remember the complete Charlotte concert being broadcast a few years later on cable TV here in Brazil and the audio was mixed differently on at least two of those broadcasts.
