Hot Beatles in Miami '64
-
Looking at the Fabs pictured during their first trip to Miami in 1964, I'm always struck by how overdressed they are in white terry cloth short robes over tee shirts and swim trunks. Ringo's even shown laying out in a full-length bathrobe. Swimming and splashing about in the pools and ocean they usually are shown up to their necks. And still covered up. ( Seems like Paul capered about the pool shirtless, while swimming.) You know how steamy hot Florida weather is...they must have been hot all covered up like that--did they fear to reveal white chests with no abs, no pecs, no tans, no virile chest hair? Male bods not "built up" with muscles? Probably the girls would have gone for them anyway As big as the Fabs were, as popular, seems like they would not have been self-conscious about their bodies, but they must have been. (And didn't want to get sun-burned.) I saw one amusing photo of George pulling up his shirt and daring to reveal his midsection to Cynthia and a fan.

I can understand Ringo as he had (has) lots of scarring on his abdomen from surgery. But the others were probably afraid the girls would really freak out if they got almost naked!

Reason: Modesty resulted from fears of inciting still more lust Fabs had all they could handle (pun)

The boys had to stay covered up, to hide all the hickeys on their necks and torso ops:
