Pre-Show Hospitality Reception & Soundcheck?
-
I have been to soundchecks without Shelley and Paul has been fine. She is fun, definitely, but not the "make or break" factor of a good soundcheck. They are all good! She also watches people with cameras very closely to make sure nobody is trying to sneak videos.

I enjoyed the concert itself and didn't think he was not friendly or in a good mood then. Our biggest problem was the screecher right behind us, who ruined my friend's recording and our ears. People on both sides of us asked her to please stop and she kept saying she had paid $650 and she would do what she wanted. Well, we paid $1500 and couldn't hear most of the time for her screeching like Yoko.

The food in Memphis last year was excellent (and I am not a vegetarian) I loved the "make your own sundae" bar! And Erik, you do get 2 free either wine or beer. I gave my tickets to someone else and just got a couple cokes (free)
Memphis had one of the better buffets. Another factor with the receptions is the location. Milwaukee's was horrible - it was 90+ degrees and HUMID that day, but there was apparently no indoor stadium club or restaurant they could use for the buffet. (I think Paul was using it ;)) so they just stuck us in an area *outside* near the bullpen.
Does anyone know if this will be "fixed" this year at Minneapolis? I was contemplating meeting a friend there for the soundcheck until reading this.

thanks, DrivinFan. I guess it's too late to get soundcheck tix for Louisville. Chicago, it is, I suppose.
-
hmm I too am considering Hot Sound for Chicago. but the price -- yikes. from the comments here, appears that the stuff surrounding the soundcheck can be hit or miss, but the sound check itself is well worth it. well, guess I'll decide tomorrow at 10!

Wow! I didn't hear that guy yell that out to him. So sorry you had a screecher next to you. I'm not a great singer so I just mouthed the words to the songs so no one has to listen to me I did think Paul was more friendly during the concert than sound check but just not as friendly as 03 concert. I kept thinking maybe it was because of the boooing they did back in 03 and I believe it was over the sticker on his guitar. I remember Paul looking like what I dont know but went on with the show.

The guy that yelled that out was by us. We were on the side closest to where we were led up the stairs when we left sound check. Some people told him he was being a jerk. I only mouth the words mostly until it gets to Hey Jude--partly because I don't want to ruin anybody's recording if they are near me. I ended up with a recording where I was the one singing the songs. I had sold an extra ticket, but I had no idea the guy was recording. If he had told me he needed me to be quiet and why, I would have done it. I ended up with a copy of the recording and there I am.

Do they allow you to bring your own snacks into the reception? I have food allergies and don't trust anything I've not made myself. It would be horrible to get sick and miss Paul after paying a small fortune for the experience!

I would imagine they would have gluten free and vegan choices. I'm just guessing. Would your diet fall within those constraints?
