Is the remastered mono vinyl discontinued?
-
I can't understand it. Shops like Fopp and HMV in the UK are heavily promoting vinyl, in particular the Beatles, but it's always the stereo remasters they have out. Why? If you're interested at all you'll know that it's all about mono for most of the albums, plus they were redone from the analogue recordings, so arguably superior to the stereo. Is it because it cost them more to do the stereo versions, so want to recoup that? What's more, unless you have the speakers just a few feet away from each other like in the olden days, the amateur stereo effect of early albums is particularly annoying. It seems that the mono of Revolver, Sgt Pepper and the White Album are out of stock at HMV. Is this temporary, are were these reissues of a limited edition?

I'm in Canada and I just purchased the mono versions for Revolver and Sgt. Pepper from Amazon and Magical Mystery and the White Album from HMV in Toronto. They are still available. The HMV had the Mono box set as well. Will the HMV in London order them for you?

Both Revolver and Sgt Pepper mono vinyl remasters have been discontinued in the UK. Others you can still get, such as Please Please Me and Help! Maybe they just have a shedload of the stereo versions they want to flog.
