Hey, let's hope a lot of money ended up with charities from all attendees out of this. Would like to think so. A blanket going around. Millionaires throwing in rolls of money.

It doesn't say anything in the article about this being a charity event. It is an investor's conference.

With lots of charity "tax deductions", one would expect. A Win-win.

What?? What are you talking about? That's a pretty big assumption. This was a secret gig at a conference about how to make money.

Not sure it could ever be that secret!... Not unless Paul kissed the sword of the last remnant of the Knights Templar and swapped blood with Nick Cage and the other writers of the Declaration of Independence... I would imagine when all these big wigs get together, even if it is perfunctory, they all put their money out to charity. And claim a tax break. And some of them, even though they are millionaires/billionaires may not even feel the need to publicise it. Just because they are filthy rich does not mean they are any less worthy of a private audience. Good on them. And I'm sure they have donated well. That's what I'm talking about.

Paul is a multi-millionaire. Despite what some people would like to believe, he is more than comfortable hanging out with his financial peers (and if it's also a payday for him, no worries!). Paul's social circle may exclusively consist of Very Wealthy People. And what's wrong with that? Did you see the list of artists who had previously performed at this conference?

Stop. This isn't "hanging out with his peers." This is another gig to play for more people who really don't care about his music. To be fair it was a "secret" gig that was not announced. I just wish he would do something like this for fans on this forum, for example, at a secret location and play a bunch of rarities or solo tunes. Like it or not, it does not look cool for a billionaire to be playing for a bunch of other billionaires. It really not in the spirit of rock n roll or of the Beatles. No matter what you think or say.

"I just wish he would do something like this for fans on this forum, for example, at a secret location and play a bunch of rarities or solo tunes. " Yep, it would be nice if he did a show like you mentioned. Play some small little club with just family and friends but record it and release it on DVD. Make it only available to boardies - what the heck, nice to dream - lol

        Maybe I'm amazed !!

Paul's got too many fans in too many places for him ever to be able to do surprise gigs and make everyone happy. Maybe if they had continued with the idea of having a pay site that might have been more likely.Even with the Fun Club there were events that were only for people in London or New York, and most fans were disappointed.

Well, it WAS secret, as far as the vast majority of the people there were concerned. The article says it's held every year, but the performers are kept secret until they walk out on stage. It can be done, especially when the audience members are much more focused on their investments and travel and corporate earnings than trying to figure out who's playing THIS year. I'm sure Paul also played "Baby, You're A Rich Man."

You have absolutely no proof that they have donated anything because of this gig. I am talking about THIS GIG. What are YOU talking about? That in the course of their lives they donate money, so it's cool Paul did this? That's ridiculous. This is a conference on how to invest and make more money, and certainly McCartney was paid to play. If it was a conference on how billionaires could better donate their money, well, then ok. And Paul donated his fee to a charity? Well ok. But there is no proof this had ANYTHING to do with being that situation. From what we know, a billionaire called another billionaire and had him entertain a bunch of other billionaires. To be fair, other artists have done this, like Sting and Elton John. But let's stop pretending this is about charity. It isn't. And because they are billionaires, they too deserve a private audience? Like who else? ME?? YOU??? Again, what on earth are you talking about?

Ha ha! The set list may have went like this: The Pound Is Sinking Baby You're A Rich Man You Never Give Me Your Money Money (That's What I Want) - John sang this one, but that's ok with Paul these days, it can be his tribute to John Can't Buy Me Love Drive My Car All You Need Is Cash - a tribute to the Rutles Piggies - a new tribute to George Junior's Farm Taxman - why stop with the tributes? Just some ideas! Any others?

Why does it matter to anyone here that he played this gig? He's done plenty of "secret shows" over the years to small crowds. It wasn't that small a crowd anyway. Even if he was paid a million it's nobody's business what he does with that money. Besides he played for free on Hollywood Blvd last year and did two other surprise free gigs on truckbeds in New York and London also. Lot of haters here for people who are supposedly his fans. Ridiculous!

So what!? He's a musician who got paid to play a gig, that's all. No different than any other gig. Why all the negativity? 'Cause they're "rich people"? :

Why does it matter to anyone here that he played this gig? He's done plenty of "secret shows" over the years to small crowds. It wasn't that small a crowd anyway. Even if he was paid a million it's nobody's business what he does with that money. Besides he played for free on Hollywood Blvd last year and did two surprise gigs on truckbeds also. Lot of haters here for people who are supposedly his fans. Ridiculous!

This was a corporate event not a surprise gig on Hollywood Blvd.

oh stop rolling your eyes already. All I did was make a comment to you that it was a corporate event.

When McCartney played the song ?Hey Jude,? one of his last songs of the day, nearly all of the 4000-member audience stood up and sang out loud (with McCartney conducting).

Thanks, Anita!! We'll get the entire list eventually...

Based on the photos posted earlier in this thread, there is one with the "little people" guitar, so that means Let Me Roll It.
