I see Ringo has added a remote hi-hat to his kit. Perhaps this allows him to play open-handed a bit more? With regard to being left-handed, and playing a right-handed kit, he spoke about this to Max Weinberg in "The Big Beat". I recommend it for all those interested in being a songwriter's drummer and not a drummers' drummer. I remember some of the old-timers telling me that the "Ringo beat" on the hi-hat was called a "swish beat" long before the British Invasion. I also love this comment of his: "I'm sort of a caveman...I believe drums should be made of wood and have skins on them." I was going to say this, but I'll let Ringo say it for himself, y'know like:

We did have two monitors but everything was put through the right hand one. We weren't allowed to monitor on both because they were saved for stereo orchestral recordings!

Cool on how Ringo being left handed greatly influenced his creativity. Really neat stuff, indeed!
