      B J Conlee:

Like most of us, I'm not in the car all the time so I'm only catching bits and pieces.

Depending on your radio package, you can also listen online for free, or add an Internet Radio as a linked subscription to an active radio for a monthly charge; I forgot the price, but it's not all that much.

I was privileged to hear and then meet Peter and Gordon at a Beatlefest. Peter has a terrific way of telling the stories of his songs. I was in my car this morning, but apparently at the wrong time. I have a house radio in the way and, because I'm a long time customer, Sirius gave me streaming for free for 30 days.

At the risk of sounding like a old f**t, I am not too familiar with Sirus. Is it something I can get installed in my older model car? I would be willing to spend the $ to be able to subscribe to an all Beatles channel. Or would it be cheaper to install it on my Smartphone and use the Bluetooth to play on my car radio?

http://www.siriusxm.com/ourmostpopularpackages?intcmp=GN_FOOTER_NEW_ImNewHere_HowMuchDoesItCost Go here and check it out. The cheapest radio is $49.99 and you install it on the dash. You then pay $15.99/mo for the service. If you also want it on your cellphone and computer, it costs total of $19.99/mo. Or you can just get cell/computer for $15.99/mo. If you use your phone in your car with Bluetooth you use up your 4G on your phone service. If you listen at home through your wi-fi, you don't use up any of your 4G. Of course with a computer you would have to have wi-fi.

Since I don't spend that much time in a car everyday, I bought the SiriusXM soundstation which is for home use only and a monthly streaming package. I only wish the sound station had an aux out feature so I could play it through my Bose wave radio or my stereo amplifier instead of a mono speaker. #firstworldproblems. My friend has had a satellite account for 10 years with them and loves it. However, he told me he had a lot of problems getting the portable satellite radio to work in his house, so he recommended that I get the wifi radio instead. At home, he relies on his Ipad to listen on his satellite account. It took a Beatles channel to get me to take the plunge.

A friend of mine applied to be a "guest DJ" on the Beatles channel and they picked her! They called and recorded an "interview" where she gets to introduce her 4 favorite Beatles songs. They said they would email her to let her know when it will air. Will be seeing her this Friday at AROTR.

Now so far I have only heard a small percentage of the new Sirius Beatles channel's playlist. It is at many different times during the day when I am in my car. Those are 10-20 minute type of car errands. My only constructive complaint from what I have heard (and as a huge Paul fan) is that they have played very little of Paul after 1980. In the times I've been listening (quite a bit but still a small % of the total since this channel's been on) I've only heard My Brave Face (live version) and Here Today (studio version from Tug of War). Other than that I've heard nothing from McCartney 2, Tug of War, Pipes of Peace, Press to Play, Flowers in the Dirt, Off the Ground, Flaming Pie, Driving Rain, Chaos, MAF, New, Fireman etc. They seem to be stopping at around 1980. I'v heard plenty of solo (this morning I heard Love is Strange a cover from Wildlife) of all the individual Beatles but they have been almost all 70's. I've heard a couple of songs from John's very last album and as I said, Here Today from 1981 but that is it. Has anyone heard more Paul solo in the 80's and beyond?

I heard "My Valentine" last night. The solo songs that I've heard have been really random so far. My only small complaint is that the "Influences" songs they play don't really sound like they influenced the Beatles very much at all. But they are all short at least.

I am mildly surprised at them playing deeper cuts and usually less heard songs or versions - I was guessing they would play the expected popular songs and maybe have a few "special" shows ... Then the same favorites of the day. I have heard a few surprises and Deep cuts for that "alright" feeling And grin. I also thought it was going to be a temporary station. Good job from them so far.

I just heard Backwards Traveller last night and a really good version (or my car speakers are really good ) Broke out into a big cheer!! After that, Cherry Garcia singing Dear Prudence. Would like to hear more Wings, and later Paul material, Electric Arguments, Rushes, in my humble opinion, NEW is Paul's best album to date and is more expanded to his true skills. Would love to hear all his classical material as well... I am a big Linda fan, and years from now, when we are all gone...I believe the Beatles together and solo, are going to go down in history as incredibly epic musicians...I know that has happened with art. Just look at Vincent van Gogh... So I am really hoping to see Paul pushing the songs when Linda was in the band. Logically, she will also go down in future's history as part of that musical, glorious magic...that we all are celebrating now. My apologies if my opinion on this is too bold. I am a big Linda fan and I hope she gets her due as well, she certainly deserves it!!! Golden Earth Girl ?
