Not sure if this is a blasphemous question but has anyone ever seen a Beatles tribute band? I am going to see one in Miami (called 1964 The Tribute) and it's being billed as a 50th anniversary show...even taking place at the same Miami hotel where the Beatles performed on Feb 16, 1964. Anyway, I don't have the highest of expectations. Don't get me wrong, I know it will be fun and a good time, just not sure how convincing the sound will be.

Beatles tribute bands are fun! Go enjoy yourself. While it isn't the real thing, it can be a ton of fun.

I consider myself somewhat of an expert in the area of Beatles tribute bands, as I've seen so many over the years. 1964: The Tribute sound fantastic, but they've been together for over 30 years (Mark Benson as John is the only original member) and are getting a bit "long in the tooth." Jimmy Pou used to be their George, but now is in a different Beatles tribute band. I know him the best (since 2000) and he's been on a Beatles cruise and ate at our table one night, plus he goes to AROTR as a solo George. Tom Work is their original George and is now back with them. He looks more like Ron Wood, only older. A new guy, Mac Ruffing, is now Paul, but he is a bit younger than the others, is good looking, and plays left-handed. You won't be disappointed as technically they are very good. Just overlook their age if you can. I just saw them in Atlanta last Sept. for about the 5th time. The Return (formerly The Roaches) is a Georgia group and are younger (mid to late 30's) and are very good. Michael Fulop (George) was 17 when I first met him in 1995! He's the only original member. Have seen them about 10 times . But the best of them all, "without a shadow of a doubt" is The Fab Four! They are in their late 30's or so and look and sound fantastic! Their attention to detail is incredible. First saw them in 2011 in Liverpool during Beatles week and was blown away! Gavin Pring (George) is actually from Liverpool (Bootle) and the other guys are from CA. Ardy Sarraf (Paul) taught himself to play left-handed bass and acoustic (for Yesterday) as he's naturally right-handed. Saw them again in Atlanta (front row on the "Paul" side) What a blast! And am going to see them at Atlanta Symphony Hall May 8th! Try to catch them on a PBS membership drive special and you will see what I mean.

I agree with Nancy... seen 1964 the Tribute twice- it's great fun. I've also seen "Rain". While 1964 only does the earlier stuff (up to Revolver, I think), Rain does everything right through Abbey Road. I thought Rain was kind of gimmicky as they were performing in Sgt Peppers uniforms and Abbey Road garb. I thought the whole concept was weird as The Beatles never toured in that era. As we all know though, nuthin' beats the real thing.

Aside from a group playing for free in "England" at Disney World (dressed as the early Beatles, and playing that era), the only one I've seen has been the "Beatlemania!" show in Philly in 1978. It was quite a spectacle for its time. If this counts as a concert, then that was my first concert ever.

I have seen Beatlemania! a few times, and American English. Both real fun tribute acts. Rain played Albuquerque twice and I missed them, but I hear they are great too. My sister and her husband in Denver go to see all the tribute acts, they really enjoyed 1964.

When I played Abbey Road on the River in Washington in 2010, I'm pretty sure 1964 were on the bill, and I thought they were really good.. I've also seen that British Invasion band at the Epcot Great Britain part of the park, and thought they were really good too. They did Beatles and other British 60's group songs as well when I saw them.

I've seen 1964 twice. Great recreation of The Beatles touring years. Those guys have been around for 30 years. Lots of makeup to conceal the wrinkles, but they're fun. I saw Rain last Fall in Birmingham, AL. They were a lot of fun. They covered the highlights of their entire career, complete with costume and wig changes. You can't go wrong. That being said, if you've ever seen Paul live, which I have 5 times, you will be slightly disappointed. But who cares? If you're a fan, you'll still have a great time.

Wings Band is Ardy Sarraf as Paul (who also plays Paul in The Fab Four!) He is the coolest guy--we Twitter back & forth all the time. Sweet Loretta Fat were great--they should come to AROTR!! P.S. I've seen RAIN twice as well, but both times the Paul played right handed! Blasphemy!! P.S.S. I also saw Beatlemania in 1980 in Atlanta.

Nancy R, I'm quite impressed! The TV show The World's Greatest Tribute Bands offers free tickets to their tapings, and through the show I've seen Britains Finest and The Fab Four and I will be seeing Wings Band. Also I've got tickets to the upcoming Wild Honey Orchestra benefit show, where they'll be performing Revolver and Abbey Road in their entirety. Denny Laine and Lawrence Juber are among the special guests. parlance

My favorite is a local band called "The Sun Kings". No wigs, no costumes, no fake accents, but they are fantastic...they do everything from early Beatles to solo tunes. And the best I have ever heard...hands down.

Well, just got back from the 1964 The Tribute show at the Deauville hotel in Miami. It was a lot of fun...and very cool to be in the same ball room of the same hotel where the Beatles played Ed Sullivan 50 years ago this weekend. Good crowd, good energy and a convincing enough sound from the band! Fun night for sure.

I have seen several tribute bands, Rain in Broadway, Jukebox, Beatlemania now, Beatlemania, several at the Abbey Road on the River festival in DC in 2011/2012 but BY A MILE nothing like Classical Mistery Tour with the NSO at the Kennedy Center. If you guys have the chance to see those cats playing Beatles with a Symphonic Orchestra behind... go. It is unbelievable.

I've seen 1964: The Tribute, another band I don't remember the name of, and RAIN Beatles Tribute twice. RAIN is the best I've seen plus the show is pretty great. Also a man who goes by the of Imagine John does a great job of John's solo years.
