Want to talk about your art? (I hope this is the right forum). What you like to do. Have you sold anything? That kind of stuff. My pic below of Spencer Tracey & Kate Hepburn I did entirely in pencil many years ago. (see "in a Heartbeat" topic for my computer cartoon).

That really looks like Hepburn. I looked at the picture before I read the post and immediately thought it was her.

^Really enjoyed your pencil drawing!! I've just started painting. Went to a local sip and paint class and enjoyed it! Trying to find a local meetup class, but may have to go to Brooklyn! Any tips that anyone has would be appreciated. Right now, I'm copying other artworks that I love. It seems strange to copy paintings though. Would like to paint something abstract, not sure where to start. Want to learn water colors and so I bought a book. Having a problem with yellow paint being very watery (acrylic). Just finally got a wall projector, as they've been out of stock. Any hints for a mural?

Did You know that the "Masters" started out by copying established works? Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, all had students who started out mixing their colours and copying their works; which were used as lessons. So don't feel too bad. You can learn a lot from them. I'm playing around with water colours too. Have you tried watercolour pencil crayons? You can use them like plain pencil crayons, then using a brush dipped in clear water, brush over them. It's fun.

Thanks for the comments! You're right, of course. I'm going to look for water color pencils this weekend.

Laura, that cartoon drawing by you featuring the beauty shop worker flopped down on the floor in exhaustion, is really funny and cute I also like your Tracy/Hepburn drawing (and your Tonto)

I like the new pencil/watercolor. What medium is it? It's kind of small to see.

Thanx for all the nice things said. Gives me confidence. This was done with watercolors--the paint-brush and tubes kind. I mostly seem to want to do things soft--except with this one I wanted the tree trunks and girl to really stand out. I think I'm getting bolder. I also like the watercolor pencil crayons too. They are great for detail.

I'm toying with the idea of doing Paul himself. But that terrifies me. I'm so afraid of screwing that one up. He's been my hero all my life.

The good thing about paint is you can paint over your errors

I hear Windows is gonna scrap "Paint". I answered a public email from BBC protesting it's removal. Are you listening Windows? DON'T take away "Paint"! I used to love its "spray" choice. Now my Windows no longer has it.

Thanks for making this thread, I want to paint now... Just wanted to share my favorite painting that I discovered on a trip to Holland. Wish I could paint like this!! https://www.mauritshuis.nl/en/explore/the-collection/artworks/vase-of-flowers-1099/ Just found a teacher that gets somewhat close, going to sign up for the fall, have only tried oils once...
