do you backing your vocals?nice editing on vocals,i can say you are into the rnb style even if you dont know it!Also the it's sick and beautiful line is a freaking asweome line, how did this line come to your mind?
yeah no I admit to loving RnB, and I'm really rappy as well. that song is what I consider my rap song. though Pink clothes was another one. truth is I can write songs like that all day, just rapping over chords. I should start doing it more. historically when I've written music I try for melody, rapping is just sort of cheating a song. I like musical songs, with spaces in music, and melodies. but I do love rap, hip hop and RnB. as well as any other music that has attitude and feeling I guess. also, Stars is a song written by my brother Rob, and he sings it. I have his songs posted cause its our band, Canary Robbery. if either of us blow up we both are in
plus he's good as hell so I use it as a bit of promotion
kidding I'm the only one who does anything musically, he jams live but never records anything. if you listen to all his white bird tracks on my YT page, they're good as hell, but its just him and a guitar, no production at all. the only reason Stars got the treatment is cause I made him go into the studio that night. I play the guitars on the track. me and him actually both played a track of rhythm guitar, and then they ended up usings some solo doodling I did as the solo. they copied pasted the same solo at the end for the fade out to if you listen, its note for note. awesome chincy ghetto production. not really too happy about that solo either, but sometimes obvious can work.. its a little too quiet in the mix. but what the hell difference does it really make!
thanks for checking em out herc, hope you;re well! AMGCL55.
btw I do not drive one of those, just so people know. I wish. but actually I'd buy a jag.
so your brother has a talent too!
-
btw herc, I totally did not answer your questions!
sorry. yeah I do all my vocals, and good call cause on this track there are 4 vocal tracks. 4 vocals, 2 guitars. I'm still working this one out, and strategizing on how to actually do it when I get into the for real studio. (however it never ends up sounding better
) but about the title, its funny cause I thought of the phrase 'sick and beautiful' just by playing the song and listening to the chords and I literally thought to myself, 'damn, this is sick and beautiful!'
and then I wrote the whole song from there. the song never even comes back to that phrase sick n beautiful, its only right at the beginning, but because it was the seed idea I named the song it. another good call on your part my friend! my bro thinks I should have called it City Life, since I wrote it when I was living downtown and living it up, to him its a snap shot of that. which makes sense, and he's right too that that living experience informed the lyrics. but also I was reallly into the rapper Nelly's album Country Grammer, and I totally wrote that all with his bravado style in mind. later herc!

That's an awesome talent to have
Thanks Josh! I do think the rappers mentality does help me to find that 'next thing' when writing songs, in general. cause its key in writing music too, as you know. wheres that next place a song is going, or what sound should follow the last.. its easy to get stumped, but flowing over areas to keep things moving helps me. Really like your latest too! (Little Box) Thats pretty catchy, was wondering, are you thinking thats the chorus, the first bit you sing? That was my thought. will be interesting to hear how you put that one together. it could go either way, verse or chorus. I like to break songs down like that, but truthfully my own songs often don't follow the classic Verse/Chorus format. when they do its almost just by chance. also, thats an ambitions vocal harmony burst you do! you should definitely do that, sounds really cool! need to fill in the high end of that harmony, maybe just with one more high line, or perhaps it could be altered in the mix. aching for that little extra high end. you make me want to try to do that, I know its not easy. audi's done some good full harmonies that I've heard, good stuff he did on my one tune Sumtin I Cant Splain. thats a cool track man. btw Josh, if you were to cut an album, what tracks of yours would be on it. Lets make it a 12 tracker, whats on it? Definitely 'Think You're Better' closes the album!!

Thanks very much for the kind words! Yeah I was going to fill the harmony out a little more when I get round to it
And yeah you should try out some crazy harmonies yourself. They can be tricky but really worth it
I'm not sure abut the structure...There is no actual chorus, but 've gotta work it ut properly yet! lol As for the album...I'll have to think about that!
I'll get back to you with that tomorrow! What about you? What would you put on our album? Maybe that idea is worth a new thread...!

Yo Macs! thanks for checking in on the tunes every now and then, I love knowing you're down with the Love Time! how smoothe is that song?!
fresh! per! spec! tive! let you know you'll be protected and I'll be there for you like afternoons in family roomsIt would take a step up even more if like you suggest, I break that one out in studio with live drums and bass line. I may make that the song I do, if I can get one in. the purpose of the 6 hour session has become a bit of a game now to try to just fire off as many of my brothers tunes as we can, live with very few select overdubs possibly. But good quality full band run throughs, hopefully knock out a few 1st takes??? would be nice. with me on bass essentially. and over dubbing guitar solos and perhaps some riffage. we're going for quantity of his songs and I think thats the way to go. was pretty much my idea, just cause I saw how tight they were, and plus my bro's clips are currently from when he was 19yrs old drunk one night
he needs an update. he love Painted Ladies though! I could trump them at anytime and do any of my songs, cause they're cool and would be all for it, but I might prepare and break that one out.
hey I agree with you that my overall sound musically, and also my melodies and probably actually align with Paul more that John. but thats just cause Paul was so good at music
plus the way I look at it is I'm actually quite close to Lennon when he was with the Beatles. in terms of them in the Beatles I think my writing is more like Lennon. would you agree? cause after the Beatles John got all 'screw pop' and made some far out records. I'm not like that. the funny things is though, whose to say, if I ever just became the biggest star on earth, I'd probably say fuck it too and follow any artistic whim I had after a while. makes me think, Paul's whim is just selling records and being successful
John;s was being wierd
nice! hey audi, I'm literally picking up the guitar right now to begin learning Hi Hi Hi. I'm going to just rock with it, try to get us the good solid rhythm guitar track, and then we can do a second (at least) guitar track to hit the different fills.
This may not get recorded tonight, but soon
PS Macs, did you hear this newer version I did of Be Just Fine? I like the song too, I'm messing with ways to make it longer, guitar solo and repeat part of the lyric in this one. however this was a first taker, very all over the place.. enjoy

Personally speaking I thought both John & Paul had weird and wonderful crazy moments, think I AM THE WALRUS & MONKBERRY MOON DELIGHT, both songs wouldn't have been out of place on either MMT or RAM strange though it may seem, I thought Paul was better at hiding his messages than John, even to this day people are still trying to figure out a lot of Paul's lyrics! I read a great review about RAM the other day (wish i had posted it on here now) where the writer said, RAM could have been The White Album 11 he even went as far to say every song on RAM wouldn't have been out of place on The White Album and in most cases the songs on RAM were better than those on The White Album, imo the writer wasn't that far off the mark. no doubt about it, Paul loves selling records and living the pop-star life, John for a while fell away from that lifestyle with all his preaching practises
even John was to admit he wanted some of what Paul had when his record weren't selling well, so what did he do? he came up with "Imagine" wasn't it Frank Zappa who said "We're only in it for the Money?"
lets be honest, wither it be John, Paul, or other greats like Mick Jagger & Ray Davies, without the trappings of success they wouldn't have been able to indulge in their side projects, in Mick's case his pretty disastrous solo records. While i'm on the subject of Mick Jagger i'll talk about Ray Davies lol "Be Just Fine" reminds me of The Kinks for one reason or another, i would keep the song simple dude

Death In Vegas
4th & GoalLonely Garden
Double Vision
I'm Quite Capable of Doing Much Worse
The Way That I Do
That's basically what we got done in about 5 hours last Sat. All I do is sing on the chorus'. the only tracks I'm not on at all are The Way That I Do, and I don't think I'm on Double Vision. eventually will be however when we do overdubs. but the rest you can hear my crazy ass singin! all 6 of those were written by my brother. nice rockers, huh? We were so amped up in studio
cant wait to get back there.
