Taking into account Paul's consistent protests at animal cruelty and his advocacy for animal rights, how can he justify his regular tours of Japan? Japan has forever thumbed its nose at International Court rulings and protests, however still slaughters hundreds of whales yearly in the name of "scientific research." So, has Paul made his outrage on this subject known? He's made his thoughts well known on seal clubbing, kangaroo culls, China's dog and cat cruelty etc. Is Japan getting off lightly because it's a massive lucrative market or has Paul gone on record as condemning this blatant opportunistic cruelty, and have I just missed it?

Very strange isn't it kittay? I remember when he was last here he went out to meet all the Greenpeace people on Sydney Harbour. Seems like it's "selective protests."

and I was just watching a dvd where he let people protest out in front of his concert in Canada about keeping an elephant chained for it's entire life. I guess, whatever gets you good publicity.

If Paul avoided countries that are cruel to animals he wouldn't tour anywhere. Maybe it's you who is being selective. Aren't they culling cats in Australia? His main campaign is against meat consumption, which is international.

And in Japan it's whale meat consumption, in the absurdly false name of scientific research.

Don't get cute. Feral cats are a vermin problem. They're killing native fauna in massive numbers here and like rats, pose health issues. Last time I checked the same couldn't be said for whales, a species on the edge of extinction. That McCartney chooses to do business with a country that is systematically destroying an animal species for the sole purpose of human consumption and product use is highly questionable. He highlighted the issue in his 1993 New World Tour opening concert film. That was designed to shock his audience into recognising the problem. He is a PETA advocate. He has publicly campaigned against seal clubbing. Where is he now on whaling? Chasing down Japanese paydays. Pathetic.

Japan is awesome. Spectacular scenery, amazing food, simple and efficient transportation to anywhere. The people are among the friendliest in the world. Outside of Minnesota, and maybe Wisconsin if there's not a Packers game on, no one is more polite. Even the teenagers are respectful of their elders. If you see a gang of teenagers in Tokyo, you can walk right through them and they'll make way. Good luck doing that in Chicago. Customer service in Japan today is probably what it was like in the United States back when people wore hats and called each other Mr. Lastname. Go into any department store and the employees will bow. It's not a bunch of bored slackers who want you to go away so they can keep texting. It's people who take pride in their work. Fly into Japan on economy class and stay at a cheap hotel and every service industry employee will still kiss your butt. They probably treat Paul like a god.
