Why the festivals??
-
I know I will get flamed for saying this, and yes, I am happy Paul is performing, but personally, I can't think of a worst situation to witness any band than a festival. Yes, stadiums are huge and impersonal, but at least they have sight lines that allow you too see the stage. Festivals are typically in a field where, unless you are placed in the nearest 100 feet or so of the stage, what can you really see, except the screens? Never mind the sea of humanity you have to endure, the other acts you have to endure, and the abysmal situation for getting drinks, food, or getting to a bathroom. And hope all the acts stick to the schedule, otherwise the headliner goes on an hour or so later than expected. For those going, I really mean it when I say "have a great time" but honestly, I am not jealous in the least!
-
Agree. I draw the line at being a lady in outdoor toilets and can live without the armpits of drunken often puking humanity in the mud But Paul gets limousined in, it's fun for him. However I've been there done that. moving on Have fun everyone!!
-
Seems like you are visiting the wrong festivals...
-
mud is mud besides what other acts could possibly hold my interest long enough to get through the whole thing?
-
That's my point as well. The McCartney experience for me is a self contained event where the pre show music is by Paul, there is no opening act, he and his band performs, then you leave, head in a cloud. I know these are famous festivals, and do not begrudge Paul playing them. But if I were to go, it would be to experience the festival, and hang out and see a bunch of bands, then Paul at the end. That's really not for me.

I attended one festival, back in 1990, and that was more than enough for me. I'm picky even when it comes to Paul. I won't even consider a stadium now. I've spent enough money seeing Paul that I will only consider an arena within a few hours of where I live--unless it's my backyard.

I looooove festivals........the atmosphere, the people, the music...the girls...doesn't get any better than that!!!!!

I agree, this is one I am skipping, there is a lot of venues I like festivals are generally not one I do..I hope everyone has fun...I would like Petty and a couple others I would like but fighting with 70,000 others in an festival atmosphere is not worth it...If I had never seen Paul well then maybe but not this time.

My best college buddy who has been to the last four Bonnaroo events swears that it's the friendliest vibe with the best food. He knows that I'm not big on the whole outdoorsy element, but he told me to come prepared to not wanna leave. Another big concern: Paul's uncanny ability to bring rainy weather with him on his tours. We'll see.

After Coachella, some friends of mine met me in Vegas for the Hard Rock gig. They were tired and dirty. First thing they wanted was a shower. Yes, they said they enjoyed it, but it is not my style in the least.

I seriously doubt that I'll put myself through that, but who knows? I have the option of driving home (an hour, tops).
-
Yes It would be nice to have that option, have fun...

That whole festival vibe would have been cool when I was 25, but not now. I'll just watch the video images on youtube from the comfort of my house!

I'm not so young either. This will probably be my first AND last outing of this sort. Then it's back to arena-only shows.
-
I would still be willing to do the camping type festival but just not this large, it starts to create logistic issues and I am too old to deal with not showering, lines that long at the bathrooms etc..I still think it will be fun for all you guys.

This. With McCartney as closer as the icing on the cake, can hardly go any better.

The guys aren't exactly hard on the eyes, as well.

seriously though, mecca plays best at festivals. It seems like that he and the band feed off the younger crowds at festivals. Plus, there's no need to buy $2k Vip Package to be by the rail, I remember at coachella, i was in front of the stage, and everybody knew the words to " highway" ...keep in mind, that was early 2009, when the album had just came out......it was something else hearing kids under 30 singing along to all the solo macca songs.....something that wouldn't happen at a regular gig. I see too many people sitting down during solo stuff at regular gigs, too many people yawning, sleeping, beer breaks.....not familiar with the music....that's why Festivals are much more fun.
