Why Do Men Like to Hunt?

Fox-hunting is about dominance. Luckily it has been banned. I`m afraid I don`t buy sentimental stuff about salt-of-the-earth hunters.

I want to hunt
Why? It`s certainly an unusual topic for a first post on Paul`s forum.
This new poster must know alot about Paul. He must know that Paul is extremely anti-hunting. They want to have a little fun here. Because if they were really serious about hunting, this would be the last place they would post that.
He/she has not been back. Funny that.

I also don't buy the sentiment of moral-superiority the some animal-rights people have along with every other group that found themselves morally superior. Get to know a few hunters and ask them what they learned about handling and caring for equipement (including clothing and gear needed just for being outdoors. Even non-hunters who go outdoors need to know that stuff), learning how to track,the habits of the creatures around them (not just the ones they're hunting), finding their way around, traveling and how to do that, plus paperwork and government reguations. It acquire a myriad of skills.

I've never gotten the stereotype of the submissive female and dominant male. I've seen submissive and dominant in both genders myself. I've even known professional dominant women and I'm a dominant woman myself. I guess the sexism of this statement bothers me because it isn't true. It's maybe because guys kill sissy? (Right back at you)

I don't get why as a Paul fan, I'm supposed to share all his views on everything. I know that Bush fans on here don't share his views on politics. I personally don't hunt, but to me, it's a case of someone who doesn't like it just simply isn't into the same thing another person is. AND THAT I understand very well.

'Dominance' in the sense of sporting and controlled population, where the hunted becomes the dominated. And if the Bible must be referenced, domination of animals at human convenience is often quoted. But for a more accurate answer, I suggest taking a survey to a hunting forum to get a hunter's prospective. The only thing I am remotely trained to hunt are humans.

Kathryn, nobody said you have to share Paul's beliefs. Defending hunting at this site (at this site, I repeat) is disrespectful to the owner of this site. The McCartney's aren't just people "who don't like hunting" They are animal rights activists and have been vocal in this for many years.

So is everyone on this board who is not a vegetarian also being disrespectful? I think Paul is well aware of the diverse beliefs among his fans and colleagues; he can suggest but he cannot enforce. A herbivorous world may be ideal, by it's hardly realistic.

Defending hunting while on this site is a belief as well as how you choose to disperse your beliefs. But there's no need to kindle the fire of discourse if you wish for it to die.

Yes, we`re all allowed different beliefs, but anyone who comes on here and makes one post about how they would like to start hunting is a troll - you would have to be pretty dim not to see that. I live in the UK, and here hunting is the preserve of rich, snobby people. They kill for trophies, not for food. Their quarry is specially bred for them, and family pets are often their victims.Do they make me feel morally superior? No - neither do rapists or (human) murderers. They make me feel angry and they make me feel sad. Like and dislike does not come into it- we`re not talking about film genres here.

Yeah, so strange first post, I'm sure this kids don't know who is Paul. They just want to defend the hunting... so sad, I wondering if they have parents who care about they.

Was it disrespectful to Paul Mc. to even broach this subject? A faux pas, or worse? Is it also an "evolutionary quirk" in men that makes them kill other humans in warfare? I can hardly get over this one. It's the ultimate mystery, besides that of death itself. Why do they, how can they? Don't term this query "sexist," because it's evident that wars are "a man thing." Throughout history and pre-history men have felt compelled to wage wars. To kill each other on battlefields and worse to kill civilians including the elderly and women and children and babies during warfare although the main object is each other. It's so crazy! They appear motivated by a death wish--it's more like a "devolutionary quirk."

i dont like the killing of inoccent animals,i think hunting is a bad hobby,i eat meat but can i kill an animal in a cold blood?

and I am also an acticivist for rights too and have been vocal for many years. I also stand up for what I believe and I am pro choice on everything, including hunting.

I don't see it as disrespectful. I don't see anybody insulting anyone here. we're all just discussing our views and in some cases, our views on views. Some of us aren't 'in the closet' with anything on what we believe. I don't see why we should stay 'in the closet' here either. (That phrase works for so many things) I am not defending hunting. I am defending people's rights to have whatever view they have. (It's a States thing for some of us). Personally, hunting always sort of disgusted me. (though I wouldn't mind learning about firearms and how to use and care for them properly). Never was intereste in it as much as I was in learning about the biology of animals. I was a strict organic vegan too. Then, I became heavily involved in the pro-choice movment regarding birth control and sex education (for adults. a rarely discussed issue). I began to realize that those pro-lifers who were stepping on my rights to plan my children or have sex acts that don't involve conception or explore other sexual orientations and ways of relationships where using the same righteous arguments that all my animal rights friends were using on people that consumed animal products. (Many of them were pro-choice too so it was ironic). At that point, I became pro-choice on everything. I am prochoice but I believe in education on the issues. I still don't care for hunting, but I've learned a lot about hunters since then and discovered a lot I didn't know before. a little lack of knowledge always goes a long way.

My teen niece and her classmates had to dissect baby monkeys in high school biology labs! It's bad enough with a frog, I couldn't stand it, but with baby monkeys??!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw all their facebook pictures of that.

monkeys? Really? Sounds expensive. In my class, we had to do fetal pigs and they ran out of pigs and some got rats.
