I saw this recently on CNN and cried my eyes out. Really pitiful, and this is why people should spay and neuter their pets. If you adopt an animal of any kind it should be a life long commitment. Animals are not just trash to be thrown to the streets to live like this: http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/29/us/michigan-detroit-stray-dogs/index.html?hpt=us_r1 God Bless their Souls that they suffer no more. ❤

back in the late 80s, I was mauled by a pack of feral dogs. My boyfriend came out with his rifle and shot them saving my life. I don't remember it as I fainted and was woken up with a smelling salt by the police. We got feral cats too. You should see them gathering in the abandoned houses at the full moon. But Detroit is hardly the only city with a feral animal problem. (But smoking pot in the city is now legal on private property and no one is reporting that. They keep giving all the credit to Washington and Colorado) I had a friend who is a religious nut and a crazy cat lady. She believed that God's biblical laws extended to animals since they are our equals and therefore birth control is forbidden to them. She lets her cats just breed and breed. Yeah, the city came in and killed them on her eventually. It was devastating to watch but she needed to spay and neuter her cats

"I don't like you" "I'll get over it"

I was thinking about the homeless dogs in Detroit today. How that COLD weather is going to surely freeze them to death. Not just in Detroit of course, but all over the country and the world where animals are neglected. Then I thought I suppose freezing to death for the poor dogs would be better than what they live day to day, starving to death. Cats and dogs. God Bless the helpless animals in the cold tonight and every night. ❤

I think the problem with pitt bulls is a nationwide problem, people don't know how to handle them and don't want them anymore. Though I see on the cnn report there in Detroit they can't afford them.

Pitbulls have a terrible name & it's really unwarranted I totally believe in the saying 'Punish the deed, not the breed' xxxxx

Here's the part where I kind of contradict myself.... The number isn't nearly as bad as they make it out to be. But. It's bad. It's not "ooh I lost my job and just can't afford to feed Fido anymore." These people are NOT responsible. Just like the article said "they are like disposable lighters." I hate driving to the city, because I either see dogs running in the road or some sshole beating one. I WILL say that I personally saw some quick action from animal control. I dropped off one of my employees one day and I saw some piece of sh*t neighbor swinging at his dog with a chain. I made the call- he was in jail that night.

Pitbulls are the 'flavor of the month' meaning they are cool to own. They have that stigma as being tough, which make them cool to some. People who want to have that stigma reflected upon THEM, get one. But those type of people aren't the type who are responsible enough to take care of them... so they become aggressive and neglected. It's the old, "viscous circle."

^^ Good on you Jonathan for calling the cops! Those fr ea kin wimps. Beating up a dog to make it mean. What pieces of inferior filth they are. Just disgusting. I look at my dog & wonder what would it take to make her want to kill another dog. Watch Pitbulls & Paroles or the Pit Boss on animal planet channel sometime. Those dogs can be very sweet.

Jonathan that is so cool of you to call the cops on that evil doer! If I were a man, or even if it were just me, and I saw someone beating a dog I'd probably step in myself and end up getting hurt but I would not stand for it. There was a case just a month or so ago, where this small dog, I believe it was an 11 year old Beagle, in our area was used as live bait for some pitbulls. I will have to find the article, but the dog survived and had pretty extensive injuries. These evil owners of the innocent pitbulls kidnapped this little dog from it's yard and threw it into the ring with them to teach them the art of killing another dog. I really despise those losers!

At first I didn't realize what was happening. The asshole was swinging towards a bush and I thought maybe he was trying to remove it or something. Then I saw the German Shepard run out from the bush and yelped. My employee didn't want me to do anything because it could cause problems with his neighbor (if he'd hit a dog, what else was he capable of?) So I promised I wouldn't call until I got home.
