Paul's Flowers/Off The Ground touring band

Again, I saw the 76 line up, the 89 and 93 line up, and the current line up. All great musicians in their own right. The 89/93 line DID NOT put anyone to sleep, that is ridiculous. They received just as enthusiastic a response as the current band does. I know, because I was there! I can dig the fan devotion here, but there do seem to be some folks who cannot accept that Paul McCartney had a successful music career before 2002.
Same here. And...as you said he had a successful career before 2002 & after 1970.

The 89/93 band would not put you to sleep. Robbie is an excellent guitarist--yes, better than Rusty. I loved Hamish's voice.
I agree
maccascruff:
The band does what Paul wants. Paul and Linda were the stars of that band. Paul allows the current band to do more.
In what way? 89/90 Robbie had a lenghty guitar solo used as a link between "Things we said today" and "Eleanor Rigby" and Hamish sang a full duet "Ebony and Ivory" plus close harmonies to almost every song. In 1993 Robbie had his own solo spot in the show called something like "Robbie's bit (Thanks Chet)" and Hamish had an occasional solo spot with "Ain't no sunshine".

Don't forget the guitar solos that linked Sgt Pepper to Sgt Pepper (Reprise) in 89/90. That was fantastic as well. I think it was Robbie & Paul on guitars and Hamish on bass.

Yeah, but it's hard to ignore his career before 1970, that was the part that changed the world and brought him world wide fame. Having said that, I think if Paul playes a 30 song set, about ten of those tunes should be pre 1970.

I'd have no problem at all with 10 Beatles tunes.

Agreed. 89/93 were better for me

And I saw them 5 times...each time, great musicianship, but bland...

This band has been together much longer than the 89/93 band. They've been with him through a courtship, marriage, birth of a child, separation, divorce, another courtship and marriage. That's a lot of stuff. Who knows how much Paul talks to them about his personal life, but they had to see things when HM was around and how different they are now. Only Wix knows how things have been since 89. I didn't see Wings in 76, my biggest concert regret.

As long as they're not bland, right?
