If you were able to select songs to be played at a venue before a McCartney concert, to get the crowd jamming and ready to rock, what music would you select? I like "Jazz Street" - one of Paul's instrumental compositions from the early 1970s - hearing it on a loudspeaker before a show would really get everyone rockin' I think

(not sure if it's a double track of him playing both piano and guitar on this, or if it's Denny Laine...) Does anyone know what songs are usually played before Paul's shows? Maybe local DJ's take care of that. I've seen videos on YouTube from the 1993 tour, and Paul showed a short film, with music, before he made his entrances at each show. Thought that was really cool

For the last several years Chris Holmes has often been there as the live DJ, and to my ears it has seemed like when he's not there live the playlist is very similar to his set, which he describes here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/paul-mccartneys-dj-shares-his-beatles-mix-20131208. I love hearing stuff like Say Say Say that we don't get to see during the show, and sometimes I get quite into it to the chagrin of those around me. ops: My personal favorite was 2002 with the live action circus-ey costumed people set to Rushes. Those were my first Paul concerts, Rushes was my favorite Paul album at the time, and he still hadn't really explicitly associated it with himself so it was a huge thrill and kind of like a wink-wink nudge-nudge for the serious fans while being entertaining for all. Combine that with the 2nd night being my first time seeing an MSG show from the floor and having the performers surrounding us, and I was almost overcome with nervous excitement! He played Rushes before coming out for Desert Trip too, but it wasn't the same as with that great live show. I wish he'd do more highly creative stuff like that. Might be a great way to work in more deep cuts too.

I love the Silly Love Songs/Temporary Secretary mix that used to play pre-show, not sure if that's still the case. I noticed at my last Out There show in Jax, that the slow 45 minute slideshow turned into a 5-10 minute or so video. Much nicer for sure

Know what you mean... in addition to recordings, I think a short video or group of song videos work really well before a show too

This is a terribly shot video, taken at Paul's 1993 Kansas City concert. Whoever took it couldn't keep the camera straight most of the time, but I liked the momentum that was built up at the beginning of the pre-show, when there was a countdown... (at 00:10 mark ) and then Paul's face appears on screen and the audience cheered... they were so glad to see him! (You'll only be able to watch it for about a minute though.... after that, the constant moving of the camera all over the place, and everything out of focus will make you dizzy but I thought the countdown before the film was pretty cool )

He also ran this pre-show video in 2005:

. It's a good video and made for an exciting buildup, but to me it's a bit too much like an ad for him and his tour -- when we're already there! I still think 2002 was the best I saw. The live action then build-up into the Hofner appearing on the screen was incredible. The place was electric.

What if he did a video comprised of stills, video, Anthology footage, interviews etc in chronological order with songs similar to how it is now but more concise. Keep in mind these would be short, 5-10 seconds segments for example... Besame Mucho That'll BE The Day Love Me Do All My Loving I Want to Hold Your Hand Can't Buy Me Love I Feel Fine Yesterday Help! Nowhere Man Eleanor Rigby Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band A Day in the Life Magical Mystery Tour Penny Lane Lady Madonna Hey Jude Back In The USSR Come Together The Long and Winding Road Let It Be Heart of The Country Eat at Home Mrs Vanderbilt Band on the Run Silly Love Songs (Live) Maybe I'm Amazed (Live) Arrow Through Me Coming Up (Live) Ebony and Ivory Say Say Say No More Lonely Nights This One Hope of Deliverance Free as a Bird Freedom (live) Fine Line (grammy's) That Was Me (Amoeba) I Saw Her Standing There (Billy Joel) Hey Jude (Olympics) Four Five Seconds Early Days The End
