FORBIDDEN - you don't have permission message

Members are being pestered with this error message at the moment: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /phpBB2/........... on this server. An error report will be forwarded to the tech team as soon as possible. In the meantime I have noted that hitting the Refresh button - F5 at the top line of your keyboard - forwards you to the page you were trying to acesss easily. Hopefully it will be dealt with promptly. Meanwhile try the fix above. Martin

its took me an hour to post two messages! every click I make on the forum, the forbidden message comes up!! thanks for keeping us informed, hopefully it gets resolved soon as its a blooming pain in the butt.

Im getting this all the time now.Also when it lets me on a page and i want to reply to a thread.I write in the in box and press submit it just will not connect to the net

Another possible work round - untested as I write but will do so shortly - which members have reported, is to use the option available within most browsers that stops recording of internet history and the saving of cookies. In Internet Explorer the feature is known as InPrivate browsing, shown as an option when a new Tab is opened - clicking that opens a new window. In Firefox the feature is known as Private Browsing - accessed through the Tools menu. I'm not sure about other browsers but I expect most will offer something similar. Martin

this is my 4th time trying to post this...I hit alt & left arrow key to back up 2 or 3 pages...after I've been kicked off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ haha...just tried to post & it kicked me off.

oobu, it kept logging you out?
I never had that problem, thankfully. Today instead of IE I used Google Chrome and it's much better. Sometimes I just have to refresh the page once after I get the "forbidden" message. Still a pain in the arse though.

ehh...not loggin me out as much as just kickin me off. Like when you try to post. But I still do have to login every time I come here.

This is getting rather irritating. It?s been going on like this for a very long time now and it seems no-one who has any power to fix things on this site is doing anything. Issues, for me, are - Have to keep on signing in as the automatic sign in thing isn?t working - Go to post or edit a post and, after submission, told it?s failed - Avatars disappear, even when I fiddle around and manage to get it showing again it disappears again after a day or two - The post timings are completely off and get mixed up = very confusing - I can?t open this website at all on google chrome and only occasionally on safari and IE, but even then the site likes to randomly not load a lot, even after pressing refresh several times Things just get more and more shambolic, which is sad to say seeing as I?m a great fan of this website. I think the mods should be given greater powers because they?re the only ones who communicate with users and know the problems.

Work on the web-site software at the level required is done by the server tech team who may well have the weekend off. A report has been forwarded and I will resend that report Monday morning by way of update so the seriousness of the issue is understood. Martin

Same trouble here.
------------- Question to the maccaboard staff : "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" IT Crowd fans will understand! Otherwise maybe just start it all over... Sometimes it's the only way to fix it once and for all... Remove all posts, remove the members, start all fresh like they did before a few times... After all, it is just a lot of 1010011100 data and we can all do it again! And if it still doesn't work again, then you can tell me off for suggesting such a useless idea!

But this has been going on for 3 days already. More than just rebooting. I'd think so at least.
The other probs have been around much longer...not remembering who we are, time traveling, etc etc etc. Really annoying.
