Pictures in Sigs Getting Silly and distracting

As somebody qualified in the English language, I would have to disagree. These are not independent clauses as they have relevance to each other, therefore the comma is perfectly acceptable. The "comma splice" is a contentious issue, anyway. It is widely accepted that if you are famous and successful then you are able to incorporate it in your writing style, yet so-called amateurs are derided for doing so. I couldn't possibly support such an elitist grammatical stance. Nice try, though.

Read Martin's post in Talk More Talk, the "What are you thinking?" thread, and the post deduction from many people's tallies is explained.
I see. That's a shame. I was under the impression that admins on a message board could amend post count through accessing the member's account on their control panel. However, maybe on this forum they cannot. Not that post count matters much (if at all), but I did notice you go over the 10,000 posts mark, which is certainly a milestone.

Semi-colons and conjunctions are your friend. I say this as an Associated Press-trained ex-journalist. My junior-year AP English teacher would've given me a "0" on my paper if it had a comma-splice -- no matter how well-researched or outlined. That is why I am extra conscious of them. "I'm not mean" is a complete sentence. "I'm just forthright" is a complete sentence. Your compound sentence should be separated with a comma AND a conjunction -- or with only a semi-colon or period. Your serve...

Don't take my word for it: "Definition for comma splice: Comma splicing is the use of a comma to join two independent clauses instead of a conjunction, semicolon, or period/full stop. " en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma_splice " (Compound sentences) These consist of at least two coordinate clauses which are presented as of equal importance, and could be separated into simple sentences if wished. They are usually connected by a conjunction, but not necessarily." www.websters-dictionary-online.com/definition/writing style

I'll concede that both Dustbin Lid and I are both correct. However, I was trained to never, ever put a comma between two sentences.

However, we can also point out that every member has the option to remove signature images from their own viewing by setting their Profile accordingly. Open your Profile, scroll down to the preferences section and chose one of these options in this particular setting: Allow signatures: Yes Yes, but no images No The middle option - Yes, but no images is reasonable compromise if images are troubling you. after making your selection scroll down to the bottom Submit button to effect the changes.
Thank you very much.

American English and British English have different rules for commas. Simply put, Brits use them judiciously and Americans, well, to be honest, they, like, love them. I am assuming that Audi is American and Dustbin is British.

Proud American right here.

When I said that you still had the George & John RIP on there. I really liked that one. But the new one is okay too.

Yep..I changed it again when I couldn't get this other one to work. I made the new signature for those who don't know..UStream was such a fiasco..sure Paul said my name(somewhat) but he didn't answer my questions.. What will happen to the new feature?
