Pinkpop, The Netherlands - Sunday 12 June - ARCHIVE
-
There's enough on the lineup to keep me interested. Strongly considering going to this one. Rockwerchter probably has a better lineup on McCartney's day but I think I'm working that weekend.

If you're going, check out Vintage Trouble. Awesome live act.
I agree, along with Slaves that day the handful worthwhile acts in Pinkpop's usual "one arena/stadium act headliner plus package deal-leftovers the other 50 worthy Dutch A-list festivals wouldn't even touch with a rubber pole"-strategy. That's why the atmosphere is dead as well, purely day trippers waiting for the headliner. Plus, even Lionel Richie (North Sea Jazz '15, Ziggo Dome '15) and McCartney (Ziggo Dome '15 x 2) are far from exclusives.

Yes, there isn't even a competition. A shame you can't make it, but at least you've got Pinkpop. McCartney's show will be tremendous as usual.

Does anyone know how much the one day ticket to either festival is? I'm making up my vacation schedule.

2000 day tickets left for the McCartney day.

The nice anecdote the Pinkpop organiser (mascotte) now has is: Bruce Springsteen never really did festivals. In 2009 he did Pinkpop. In 2012 he did it again. Then he did Hard Rock Calling Festival in Hyde Park a month later. Paul McCartney guested. Springsteen said to McCartney: look at how great festivals are, go do festivals again. And if you do it, start at Pinkpop. (Then in 2013 McCartney indeed started to do festivals, Pinkpop almost got him, but Bonnaroo put more money on the table, same weekend.)
-
And more from him: http://www.rtlz.nl/tv/laatste-videos/oude-rockers-mateloos-populair-op-pinkpop The big Mojo (Dutch) booker is a good friend of Barry Marshall (Marshall Arts Ltd, promoter of McCartney since the 80's). (As mentioned before, one of the biggest reasons The Netherlands was often so lucky with McCartney's tours.) The main reason McCartney is doing Pinkpop this year, it's all about connections. A deal which was settled months ago. The budget for the acts in 2005 was 1 million euros, which was a normal budget at the time. This year it's 8 million... Also, McCartney will play "1,5 hours".

I can't see that though, Springsteen played the full 2,5 hours, and I looked up the scheme for 2009 again and he indeed already started at 20:00.

And even weekend tickets are available again. Enough tickets left, as suspected the rush-sale is nowhere to be found.
-
And after a bit of backtracking the organisation announced that they are now truly down to the last 1000 Sunday tickets.
-
And still not sold-out... Discount tickets available already: http://elsloo.info/32-nieuws/nieuws-voorpagina/2245-pinkpop-ticket-met-15-korting
