ENGLISH: *promo talk* Paul McCartney: "I love a festival audience and we plan to close Pinkpop with a massive party. I?ve not done a festival in the Netherlands before so it will be an exciting new experience for me and for the audience, so we can all rock out together. Get ready Pinkpop we?re on our way. See you in June.? Pinkpop organizer Jan Smeets said: ?I am very proud that Sir Paul McCartney, one of the world?s greatest artists of the world, will play at Pinkpop. His first Dutch festival show ever. An artist who was never on our wish list, simply because we never thought it would even be possible! A Beatle at Pinkpop, that's almost unbelievable.?

Will it be a festival duration concert (shorter than usual, about 30 songs) or a full-length show?

The former, Pinkpop has a strict curfew at 22:30, and with the concert being in June it will be an almost fully day-time festival set. Though it's not unheard of headline acts at Pinkpop start super early, like Metallica did in 2014 (20:45-22:30). I think any stadium act like the one mentioned, plus Coldplay, Muse and Foo Fighters, who sometimes play up to 2,5 hours as well, did a heavily shortened set at Pinkpop in the recent years. I can't think of any act who even went past 1 hours and 45 minutes. I can assure you McCartney will be the first, but I don't see him doing the full 2,5+ hours.

Definitely. It's too late in the game to expect huge changes ever again, but the current songs and show elements are well-worn, and will reflect badly in the reviews now he's coming back for the 5th time in 6 years.

Well the New songs will go for a kick off. That frees up 3 spots right there.

Yes, plus the opener and other 'new' touring additions so he can keep on playing 'Paperback Writer', 'Something' and 'Let Me Roll It'. If he follows normal protocol 'Listen To What The Man Said' and 'Hi Hi Hi' will be replaced by 'Jet' and 'Get Back', keeps things fresh... Btw, keep in mind the whole encore/a few songs in the beginning got a shake-up in the last leg of the last tour, so that's half of the new tour additions right there already.

You would think. But I am still amazed at how forgiving the press is. I predict few, if any, changes to the set list, and more rave reviews.

Yes, I can see why though, when you are there, you can't think otherwise than "what a perfect show". And that's what the Amsterdam shows for the majority reflected, but some of the press here did mention how well-worn some parts are, and especially the stories, which must feel like a déjà vu for the press members who don't follow him step by step and reviewed his shows in late 2009, early 2012, mid-2015. Of course in the end they are forgiving, for the reason stated above. Still, his show was front page in the majority of the big newspapers over here in 2009, but for 2015 there was hardly any buzz. Regardless, it's a fabulous show, but for us fans he can simply push it from ... let's say five-stars to six stars, haha. And I know it won't happen, and that's why I will skip the gigs, even now it's in my own country, or at least wait out what he's going to play.

The booker who got him to Pinkpop, possibly one of the biggest reasons McCartney comes to The Netherlands so often: "The deal was settled months ago [..] Before Christmas we already paid a part of the wage. [..]"

I wonder if he'll do Temporary Secretary. He dropped it for US festivals when that is exactly where he SHOULD have played.

If it already got skipped during the tour it got debuted on, there's no hope for that song to stay during a new tour... He will pull a 'Come And Get It' on anything which sparks the interest of the more adventurous fans. A major highlight during the gigs in Amsterdam.

If the rumors are correct, the tour should begin in April-May in South America, so Europe will be the second leg of the tour, and you know what it means - new song or even a few (usualy)!

A laughable line-up as always at Pinkpop, but this is McCartney's day. At least there's Lionel Richie subbing. Not my type of music, but I saw him at Glastonbury last year and it turned out to be a fantastic festival act.
