Very positive, but with the fair points of criticism. McCartney and his music are "immortal" (header), but the synchronised bits (tributes, talks) and rough voice left a bit to be desired. All didn't matter, because of earlier made point. And I agree.

A sum-up of the festival by the Dutch public channel, which reads like a school trip summary: http://nos.nl/artikel/2110737-pinkpop-spotten-met-leeftijden-van-sterren-die-van-geen-wijken-weten.html They start off with saying he was the ultimate closer, who made even the oldest songs sound as fresh as "the 20-something he once was". Then later on they mention the first 3 songs, which he performed as "the owner of a nice and neat antique shop in the countryside of Sussex, although what was offered here showed apparent cracks." It's really badly written. "He talked in hoarse voice, and sometimes didn't make the high notes, like in 'Maybe I'm Amazed'. During 'We Can Work It Out' it was noticeable how many young fans sang along. The same counted for 'Love Me Do' [..] Also not completely on key, though poignant after all, was 'Blackbird' [..]. The public opinion was mixed. Halfway through a lot of people walked away, still in their ponchos. Somewhere backstage a woman noted she thought it was somniferous. McCartney missed the energy and mobility of Springsteen and Mick Jagger during their Pinkpop-performances. He looked tired, although as an elderly man he went all for it. [..] 'Something' was a nadir. After that Macca made up with 'Let It Be', 'Live And Let Die' and 'Hey Jude' [..]. The fans were satisfied with just Sir Paul, even when it wasn't his best show."

And more reviews: http://www.nu.nl/muziek/4276761/recensieoverzicht-paul-mccartney-levenslustig-pinkpop.html His voice, oh, his voice, and wow, his voice. But besides that for the majority overly positive.

I'm just gonna keep posting all by myself now Statler & Waldorf aren't chiming in . Biggest Dutch music magazine: http://www.oor.nl/#!/articles/pinkpop_dag_3_paul_mccartney_lionel_richie_e_a/concert (copypaste full link) Same story, the vocals, the vocals, the vocals. (And a note on how his tributes are stale.) "Fans holding their breath", "squeezed notes flying rudderless into the rain, variated with grimly growls and even some missed lyrics". 'Maybe I'm Amazed' "wrecked", and during 'Blackbird' we "walk on egg-shells", with 'FourFiveSeconds' being "a struggle for artist and listener". But, "luckily Paul remains Paul, regardless of how fragile and 'under the weather', and his show stands firmly even when one of his most important instruments has hiccups".

Sounds like the reviewers are being pretty fair. They couldn't just ignore his voice but they aren't being outright nasty about it.

Yes, everyone makes it the big deal it should be, but they conclude at the fact that some things can be forgiven if you put on a show like McCartney does. And here's one from Belgium, "5 reasons why McCartney was boss above bosses" (literal translation): http://www.demorgen.be/muziek/vijf-redenen-waarom-paul-mccartney-baas-boven-baas-was-op-pinkpop-b64779a7/oIgsa/ Also, it was of course the Dutch McCartney tulip ( http://tulipsinholland.com/2015/06/paul-mccartney-honoured-with-dutch-tulip/)) the band was wearing, what a nice touch!

Knowledgable ?? They talk about "female background singers".......another newspaper (NRC) said Save us is a Wings song.........So who cares about reviews ? But in general most reviewers ar right, it was kind of a special show, one that Pinkpop will remember for a long time. None of the reviews captured the atmosphere on the field though IMO.Despite the rain, it was a party with 60,000. A lot of young people (<25) were singing along with many songs. For me, this was the most spontaneous concert of the tour. Paul did some small improvisatioms here and there and Ram on and Give peace a chance were quite unexpected, especially at a festival with a tight time schedule. He had to work a bit hard to please the audience IMO, and he asked for response more than usual. The festival itself was really well organized, imagine 70,000 people in the rain and mud, but it all went really well and it was love peace understanding all over the place. Paul arrived ove 3 hours later than planned at the airport and I nearly got a "high five" when he was driven from the airport to Pinkpop in a Mercedes. If only my arm had been 10 cm longer.......ð???

And quite unxpected: almost everyone stayed until the end (or The End) dvdn people who obviously came for other bands. "Four five seconds" was very well received by the audience (I can't understand how OOR mentions that this was bad) as was"Love me do".

Ouch, yeah. And that's Pro Sound too. How has that happened so quickly? The video from the Budokan concert (

) isn't nearly that shaky. Unless there's autotune on it - I don't really have an ear for that.

Huh? Background singers who helped Paul singing the difficult songparts? Abe is singing along with Paul, there were no other backgroundsingers. "verklaart zijn liefde nog even aan zijn huidige vrouw ?n een paar exen" Don't know what the journalist knows about Paul's life. I know that Paul was married to Linda, his ex Heather and now to Nancy. So why writing about a few ex-wifes?

Thank you for sharing links in the past 24 hours. I don't understand Dutch, but I believe the one above includes a few audio snippets from an exclusive interview. Is the full interview available somewhere?

Unfortunately not. This was handled very amateurish. This should've been recorded at the local radio, but instead they published audio recorded with an iPhone in dictation mode, capturing another phone on speaker mode, with the interviewing humming throughout it. Here are all available fragments:

And it's not done yet. A famous Dutch radio DJ claiming in the biggest night late-night show that - paraphrasing - it was nice to be near a legend, but you don't wanna see him in this state. And this, dear people, is why I said he shouldn't bother with Pinkpop. Irreparable damage to his legacy, and it's not even his fault.
