Ray Davies at Olympics with an intro by...

MaccaBeatles:
Paul needs to start a band with Ray Davies, Elvis Costello, Mike Nesmith and Dave Grohl. That would be amazing! Edit: Actually on second thoughts I think Paul and Ray's egos would clash!
+ Noel Gallagher, Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon

Plastic Soul Man:
Ray comes across as a right git in the latest Q magazine. Always loved his music though, although he is nowhere Macca level.
I think Ray's best songs are up there with Paul's best, but vocally at there best Paul slaughters him, plus melodically and eclectically Paul trounces his work, the one thing Ray has over Paul is his lyrical prowess, but that's the only thing really. I do wish Paul had Ray's discipline with lyrics though, it's Paul's achilles heel a lot of the time.

I'm still rather upset that the US coverage of the closing ceremonies, and opening ones, actually, cut out some bands. I would really have liked to hear Ray Davies on my nice TV instead of through sub standard computer speakers.

I disagree with the melodic-part, Ray is one of the most melodic writers in rock-history, he's up there with Paul, imo. Paul has the better voice, Ray often better lyrics, but both are simply brilliant songwriters in their own right.

One of Ray's best tunes and lyrics, very emotional:

I probably wasn't as clear as i meant to be, melodically Paul has a better body of work over their whole career, i think Ray's melodic knack dropped off more quickly.

I think this sums it up perfectly
