Another Rock n' Roll Soldier is gone! Jack may have been a pain in the a*s, he may have been a loudmouth but the man was an innovator when it came to the Bass guitar. If I'm not mistaken, Jack was one of the very first Bass guitarists to play a 6-String Bass. I'm glad that CREAM had the 2005 Reunion, despite Jack saying years later that their differences were still on the surface, CREAM really showed what they were made of. Rock n' Roll will not be the same without Jack Bruce. RIP Jack.

            I didn't know there was such a thing as a 6-string bass. Now I've heard of a 5-string bass.

Hi Nancy R! How are ya? Yes, there is a 6-string Bass, there were times when Jack Bruce played a 6-String Bass while in Cream. This is only one of the many reasons why Jack was a true innovator when it came to the Bass Guitar. In my opinion, Jack Bruce reinvented how the Bass Guitar would be played. Take care Nancy R.

Jack played a Fender Bass VI - so did John & George occasionally when Paul was playing keyboard. Please see the following link: http://www.musicradar.com/news/bass/the-history-of-the-fender-bass-vi-541018

3 to be exact! I think it was the version that George played a great guitar solo. Didn't John also play the 6-string bass on "Two Of Us?"

I was incommunicado from the news the day he died. A friend had to let me know via message. Jack Bruce was my favorite member of Cream. Love his voice and his bass playing was out of sight. Hate to know he is gone. His music lives on! Spoonful:
