Paul Weller
-
Its time Mr Weller got the praise and thanks that he deserves, He must be one of the best song writers in the country... Stanley Road and Wildwood are all time greats
-
Agree with you, his latest album 22 Dreams is another wonderful record.
-
A sample of the new Weller stuff......
Sounds like his next album could be a corker. Shame Moggy isn't around to give us his music input. He PM'd this to me Post you bugger, you know you want to.... -

I hope you won't mind if I place this one here. I recently found this one quietly tucked away in another thread, and I instantly fell in love with it. It is truly a lovely song...

David...I thought the same thing when I saw this thread...If this doesn't leave him chomping at the bit, nothing will!! We miss you Mog.... plus David needs his sidekick back...he's running out of material! Oh, and Susy, not to worry, I'm not begging here, just giving him a little "nudge"....we all could use one now and again. Oh, and sometimes when people around me get a little down, I sometimes use this line from the movie MOONSTRUCK and it seem to work quite nicely...
-
Claudia611 Howdy doody Claudy.... If you think Moggy's left this old boot of a site then think again......he's constantly pestering me with PM's.... .....and they're longer than the stuff he used to float on here.... I mean how am I supposed to be funny without me straight man....and that's a lie for a start..... I do have a lot of material for lampooning the old dear but he gets all sensitive and leaves the site.....and me without some mug (sorry), pal to bounce me madcap posts off.... .....he's got no consideration. If I keep on with stuff like this he's bound to give in and post eventually....he'll be forced to, especially if threaten to tell you all his secret.....

this seems a rather threating thing has it been reported

i never heard of paul weller (or the style council) before coming onto this site. he never made it big in the states. many of weller's songs are very good, but (to me) he lacks charisma and 'star power,' or 'star quality,' that certain something. sorry course the music's much more important. if i had a weller cd i might get into it, at least some. well course i would...he's very talented as a songwriter. his singing is pretty good.
-
What does that even mean, "star power" or "star quality"? Weller lacks nothing. Actually, I think you've just paid him a back-handed compliment. Paul Weller is a fantastic songwriter, musician and performer - and that's what he's about... the music. Nothing more, nothing less. Got my tickets for one of his Royal Albert Hall dates next year, really looking forward to it.
-
yeah where has moggy been I thought it was getting a wee bit quiet here I've luckily seen Weller play a couple of gigs and he is a great musician who puts on a great show. He has the substance which I want in musicians I like
-
For me, the two most sublime Paul Weller tracks are "You Do Something To Me" and, especially, "Hung Up". Come back Moggy. Don't let the barstewards grind you down!
-
No offence to fans, but I've never really liked Paul Weller. Well... there's a couple of songs which are ok I guess...
-
Paul Weller's one of Britain's finest songwriters ever imho. I've been a fan since the early days when he was in The Jam. Songs like That's Entertainment and Town Called Malice were not only perfect singles but also also summed up the desperation of growing up in suburban Britain in the late 70s/early 80s. He also did a great Beatles-esque track with Start (ok - so it's the riff from Taxman but it's got great attitide and a stinging guitar solo). Didn't think he could top The Jam, but his string of albums in the 90s were exceptional - Stanley Road, Wild Wood, Heliocentric, etc. Can't wait to see him at the Albert Hall in May. Loved 22 Dreams, but it looks as if he'll have another new album out by May, so looking forward to hearing some new tracks too.

Good to hear he is has been working with Bruce Foxton again,,, I thought i saw Bruce in Manchester yesterday
-
I'm a relatively new fan. I love his voice and greatly appreciate those links.
-
Congratulations to Paul on his Godlike Genius award. Well deserved!
