It's been years since I've had floor seats at an arena show. What's it like in the US for Paul's shows these days? Is the entire floor up and dancing? Just the first ten rows? Are people yelling at anyone standing expecting to sit? I am in 13th row on the right side of the stage. As much as I would like to see Paul and have my daughter see too (we are both short) I can't imagine sitting through most of his show. There is just too much excitement and I'd want to dance to songs I've been waiting to hear live (I am going to lose it if/when he plays Hi Hi Hi). So... what's the energy level on the floor like these days? Or does it just depend on the city?

I was 9th row in St. Louis (upgraded myself to 8th before the show started). The guy in front of me told me before the "We plan on standing the whole show" and my response was "**** yeah!" He and his wife were both 60 years old. The first 9 rows in St. Louis were rocking the whole night. A bunch of us stood around afterwords and debated about going to the rest of the shows that month, etc. I've got a feeling you'll be standing almost the whole time if not all of the show. The coolest part was seeing the activity of the first 7 rows in the center section. You could see the anticipation grow by the formation of the people leading up to the lights going out (they started very dim from the begining. Really cool).

I just got back from Austin--saw Paul both nights!! WOW!! The first night I got the VIP Hot Sound package and was in the fourth row right in front of Paul. Everybody jumped up when Paul came onstage and we did not sit down at all the rest of the show. You are NOT going to WANT to sit down--he doesn't let the momentum of the show slow down much--he alternates rockers and slower songs never doing more than 2 slow songs in a row. I'm pretty sure ALL of the floor sections stood all night, also. My advice is to wear tall but comfortable shoes--because invariably when you are short you will have Sasquatch standing right between you and your view of Paul. I'm just sayin'!!

I was in the 6th row in Austin for the show on the 22nd and we stood almost the entire show. This was my seventh Macca concert and it was the loudest crowd I've been a part of - amazing! Took my dad and girlfriend and they both agreed it was one of the best concerts they've been to. Paul's voice is in superb shape and was the best it's been since the 02 tour. Talk about a testament to the vegetarian lifestyle. I actually felt a bit bad for the people behind me as I'm about 6'4 (see, Sasquatch) but if I sat down then I couldn't see. Loved being on the floor and the energy down there but the guilt of blocking other people's view is a bit of a downer. Anyway, enjoy the show! I wish I could make a trip to see him again!

I was asking because I thought I read in another thread (maybe about rudeness) that people on the floor were getting yelled at for standing. I would expect everyone to stand and actually want to even though it might impair my sight line. I don't think I'll be able to sit, I will be way too happy and excited to remain in my seat.

As a 5'2" woman who always seems to sit behind super tall people I appreciate that you feel a little bit guilty, but it's not your fault. You want to see the show too!

You will be standing for the entire show. Unless you want to sit down for a breather for a few minutes.

i would say it depends on the venue and the attitude of others around you. I am a "stander". I have been yelled at (floor, row 12), but then at a different venue the entire area was standing (floor, first 15 rows). Sometimes I have to sit to take a breather, or just enjoy a few moments of quiet time when HE is singing a quiet song. I say stand if you want...enjoy yourself.

I was on the floor at Citi Field, Yankee Stadium, and Scottrade Center, and will be on the floor at National's Park. I stood through every show on the floor except for Yankee Stadium when security MADE everyone sit down during the piano set/acoustic set. :

I hope I'm able to stand as much as possible, wouldn't mind maybe sitting down for a few of the slower songs if most other people on the floor are. I'm in the 9th row and it sounds like there's a good chance that we will be standing up. I'm not especially short but not tall either, may decide to wear comfy platform shoes that day...

My experience is that the floor stands. I can't sit still when Paul is up there rocking out. As others have said, you can always sit during the slower tunes but come prepared to stand. Enjoy!

I was in row 25 at CitField and all stood. Subsequent concerts I was in first 3 rows and stood - Philly, St. Louis, etc. Yankee Stadium I was in row 1 and row 3 (2nd night) and Yankees security was problematic as they didn't seem to get that this was a ROCK concert. We ignored them and stood and when Nancy danced in the aisles so did we. There were a few screamers saying we should sit but they were told that if they wanted to sit they should have been in the nose-bleed section. Hopefully he will never do Yankees again. I will be at Barclays both nights row 1 and field row 9 or so, Fenway row 1, Nationals row 1 - and will have tired but happy feet from standing and dancing! P.S. we also stood at Shea Stadium in 1965 an 1966.

Yeah, I think simply not playing Yankee Stadium is the best solution to this, I'm sure they're like that all the time...all about the $$$$$ on that one I'm sure...

Row 5 in St. Louis and stood for most of it. As I've aged, I have to take a breather. Everybody around us was standing most of the time also. In Memphis, I was in first section to the side, row 4 and we stood. Must be in better shape as I didn't have to sit as much. I'm not 21 any more either and I can no longer stand for the entire concert.
