I read in another post about how Macca's range of styles is so diverse, and realised that's one of the reasons why I like his music. Jethro Tull have had a similar diversity over the years, ranging from blues, through prog rock, folk, folk rock, jazz and new wave. Ian Anderson is responsible for 99.9% of the writing and in my eyes is an unsung genius. 60 Million albums and counting. Here's a folky one for you

Love Jethro Tull and totally agree Ian Anderson is an unsung genius. Aqualung is a certified masterpiece. Benefit, Thick as a Brick, War Child, all classic albums! Tull was my first rock concert. I saw the Aqualung tour in 1971. I saw them again in 2008 on their 40th anniversary tour. Anderson was and still is an amazing performer. Great stuff and thanks for posting here about an extraordinary band!

Was part of a bricklaying crew in the early 80's. One of the guys was a college music major on summer break working as a bricklayer. He had some friends who were playing at a local bar. We went over there and he sat in on keyboard and they played Locomotive Breath and Thick As A Brick. They sounded just like Tull. It was awesome indeed!

I saw them during the 40th anniversary tour too and it was definitely a great show.

Ian Anderson has a recent solo album. Homo Erraticus. Haven't heard it yet.
