On the radio: John Lennon's Christmas song rendered in an old-timey bluegrass manner with a Mother Maybelle Carter-sounding lead vocalist. A bit odd, but kind of nice, to hear her old fashioned-style warbling about all races celebrating and getting along political correctness and the part about "war is over, if you want it"--she ended the song singing that! And it was repeated in the background.

(LOL) David Bowie is bringing his cult classic oddball movie "The Man Who Fell To Earth" to Broadway, as a musical--that's going to be one weird musical ! Would love to see it Can you imagine ??!!

Charlie Pugh sang the campy "Marvin Gaye" with Meghan Trainor--he and she hugged on stage after singing it, and then Charlie posted that he and Meghan are "just friends." She ought to post or tweet "I am not attracted to him in any way, shape or form!" Words to that effect. After his put down.

This news is so un-weird that it's almost weird: Abigail Breslin will play "Baby" in the new "Dirty Dancing" remake on ABC Family. The recent Dolly Partin bio pic on cablevision scored over 14 million viewers. Of when she was a child in the backwoods mountains, wholesome holiday t.v. fare.

Elle King with her sassy hit "X's and Oh's " sounds like Meghan Trainor and sort of like Nelly Fortado. As of a few listenings, I can hardly tell King and Trainor apart. Just like Demi Lavato and Selena Gomez sound alike to my ears. On my "Wildest Dreams" song, they tried hard to make Taylor Swift sound like Gomez and Lavoto, strived to make her sound better and she did, a bit. The song still makes me wince and cringe in parts. Sounds like a cross between cats fighting and chalk squealing across a chalkboard Almost as bad as Taylor's "Bad Blood" sounds... I read that the New York Times criticized Mariah Carey's singing recently, really tore it down

The new One Direction song that goes "Baby I'm Perfect" starts out with a 1980's Big Country sample and then the One Direction lead singer steals from Scissors Sisters with the way he emphasizes certain words. He didn't fool me. I knew : But I did sort of like the song to begin with. It might wear out its welcome pretty fast.

An old small picturesque town in my county is holding a singing contest and only one song will be performed by all contestants--"Amazing Grace" ! It's a beautiful, meaningful ditty but don't know if I could hang for just hearing that repeatedly during the show. This is typical of Jesus Freak Land, having a contest like that :

Harry Stiles, famed lead singer for One Direction, seen parading around in rather loud red suit decorated all over with colorful flowers--with his lush long locks flowing, a look which drew criticism from some online wags but the over all package wins cooing kudos from many who perhaps tire of the male gender wearing plain neutrals, very short hair, looking totally butch perhaps you'd say. Would Harry would inspire sartorial copy cats. Cool cats Fancy

Wow...Fayetteville, N.C. has a "rap hip hop superstar" a handsome L Cole with short dreadlocks--he gave a concert at that city's Crown Coliseum and Jay Z and Drake made surprise appearances at the show! I'd no idea Fayetteville has a big star from there. He must be pretty big, for Jay Z and Drake to show up at his show. All the fans must have been beyond thrilled. I don't know L Cole's hits.

Heard on the radio: Diana Ross will perform on the "Fantasy Voyage" cruise, and Jewel will perform in concert at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, N.C. Someone remarked these two must have come down in the world in their careers to be playing these smaller venues, but I've always thought a smaller more intimate show is preferable, more desirable for an audience and I presume for the performer (s) as well?

Lenny Kravitz, in praising them, referred to "Bob, Mick and McCartney" (his music heroes) as "jazz cats." Course, they don't/didn't play jazz exclusively. No doubt his appellation wasn't meant literally. ..."American Psycho" musical coming to Broadway (or off-Broadway?)??!! Talk about feel good !! : Such creativity and imagination, to fashion a musical from that (1980s Brett Ellis Easton novel) gruesome material--or was the impetus something less noble and inspirational than sheer creativity and originality--seems like ultra-violence

Vanessa Hudgens singled out for special praise for her turn as Rizzo on the live TV version of the musical "Grease"--her performance given glowing reviews, said she was stunning--and her father died the night before the show. "There's no people like show people, they smile when they are low"

Think it's cool Beyoncé got rad during her half-time Super Bowl spot, although some imply that wasn't the right venue, that it should have been purely for entertainment--it's reported she used a "Black Lives Matter" theme and Black Panther costumes

British actor Joseph Finnes is set to play Michael Jackson in a T.V. movie--of course! He's the first one springs to mind as a viable choice to play Michael Jackson. Absolutely.

Standing in supermarket line, saw a trashy tabloid with Paul on its cover down at the bottom--turns out according to them Paul is after his favorite Doris Day, 91, to record a "duets album"--if true, it's great Doris can still sing. Her movies are wonderful, too. Remember Lennon threw out her name in one of his songs on the next to last Beatles album
