Really enjoyed those Steve... Hearing the Sounds of Silence sung by monks, makes me think of all the orders who have taken vows of silence.... the scenes from those cathedrals and the beautiful organ, makes me think of the people who toiled for years building them, in their splendor and glory. The voices sung in churches, especially the Gregorian chants are indeed very Tranquil and Meditative. A Meditative Chant

Lassus - Prophetiae Sibyllarum Prophetiae Sibyllarum ("Sibylline Prophecies" or "Sibylline Oracles") are a series of twelve motets by the Franco-Flemish composer Orlande de Lassus. The works are known for their extremely chromatic idiom This cycle of motets is said to have been given as a personal gift to Albrecht V. of Bavaria, Lassus' employer, after his arrival in Munich. By the time he had begun work in Germany, Lassus had already enjoyed great success in Italy as a composer for Costantino Castrioto, and was looking to make a new name for himself. The motets were first published in 1600

I love that effect when they are singing high in the Aramaic video with thee women and three men and suddenly they drop to a lower tone... Very Beautiful!!!

Me too, I was even catching a bit of the lower base tone, it was giving me thoughts similar to Tibetan chanting...also ancient.. Very Very beautiful... I found it enchanting even

Back to more traditional, enjoyed this... That is a very prophetic song...you can learn a lot about a society...reading the words on the subway walls, Metro Walls and all sorts of walls... Wondering what church that was photographed in, it's so beautiful... So happy for this thread, as I've been listening to more chants..blending into religious choir music So here's one that gets better and better as it goes on...Hallelujah -
Not sure if this is Gregorian Chanting, but quite enjoyable, the instruments were interesting, a lute with a very long neck, something that sounded like a trumpet, yet was not a trumpet and a very nice auto harp/hammered dulcimer type sounding instrument.
The title is about Angels...more of a chant Some more angelic harmonies...love this ? A little Mozart ~ Grant Us Peace -
