Chris Squire, bassist extraordinaire from the amazing band YES has passed away. Along with McCartney and the Who's John Entwistle, Squire was among the rock music world's best bassists. Squire often was quoted as having McCartney's bass work as one of his main inspirations. (As have countless other bassists!). YES raised the bar showing what could be accomplished when a band was full of incredible musicians--doing much what like the Beatles did in their day--leaving other bands a mile behind when it came to creativity and originality and being ahead of their peers. Squire was a huge part of that. Squire became synonymous with the Rickenbacker bass. His unique bass sound, technical ability and musical creativity powered the class YES lineup to produce some of the rock world's most complex and musically challenging art ever recorded. Bassists this good are few and far between. He will be missed. For those of you less familiar with YES, Squire's bass work was featured on such classic Yes albums such as FRAGILE, CLOSE TO THE EDGE and GOING FOR THE ONE.

R.I.P. I can hear his bass in my head. Which in my opinion is the best compliment I can give a musician.

Saw the great band Yes with their virtuoso bass player 3 times in the 70's. He wrote or co-wrote many of their best songs, and I think I read he was the only band member to play on all their albums. Yes is still among my favorite groups to listen to. RIP Chris Squire.

A most influential band in my life. There is a youtube video of Steve Howe tutoring the intro and riff from Roundabout if you search it. It is very sad that Chris has passed away.
