Yes to Dionne, Karen, Dusty and Stevie!
I'd add the other female singer in Fleetwood Mac - Christine McVie, who's unfairly overlooked in the band imho. Also love Kate Bush, KT Tunstall, Lisa Hannigan, Beth Rowley, Suzanne Vega and Joan Armatrading, who we saw live the other week - excellent singer, songwriter and guitarist. Pure class. Also, I know she gets a bit of stick on here, but I'd include Annie Lennox too - great voice, who does a lot for charity.

Nice list moggy , really love Kirsty MacColl a very talented singer songwriter and sadly missed . I've just bought the album "Shine" (1984) by Frida from ABBA as Kirsty MacColl is on backing vocals throughout the album and wrote four songs for Frida on the album . I would never have put these two voices together but it works , they sound great together especially on the Kirsty song Chemistry Tonight . The album did'nt do anything only getting to # 67 in the UK . And although the 80's production dates it a bit , Steve Lillywhite keeps it quite simple , not a bad little album , pity about the cover it's well naff . Frida looks to be wearing pink and yellow rubber gloves as she strikes a boxing pose

Love Kirsty Maccoll too. Her death was an absolute tragedy. Getting into this new artist, Lauren Pritchard. Saw her sing with Paul Weller in London earlier this month. Good voice. Originally from the US, now based in the UK. Her new EP "The Jackson Sessions" is now out. Great EP, played it lots over the past few days. Here's track 1: Lauren Pritchard: "When The Night Kills The Day" -

Lauren will be great in a small venue, I'm sure. Love her EP. Beautiful song by Kathryn Edwards. Not heard of her before.

- Beautiful Tomorrow - Nobody's Fault But Mine - You Never Call Me - Sweet Hours Some of the songs on the album are covers of standards, others are co-writes between her and Ben Castle, her sax player (son of Roy, trivia fans!)Listening to this today: Beth Rowley - "Little Dreamer" Beth's got a really beautiful voice, soulful, bluesy, gospel singer, with a hint of folk on a couple of songs.

Glad you liked Beth Rowley, Mog. She's got a fantastic voice and I've played her album to death over the past year. I'd heard the name Cat Power, and read some good reviews, but not heard her perform before. Bit like Beth Orton's voice. Very good, if perhaps her songs sound a tad depressing to listen to too many all at once. I've only heard a few from the youtube links, so I could be doing her a dis-service. Howling Bells are very good - and see what you mean about the lead singer.
ops: Another album for the Amazon wish list.....
: Never knew that Kiki Dee recorded for Motown.
In our house, we always think of the hairdressers when we think of Kiki. When my wife lived & worked in Bradford, she used to get her hair cut by Kiki Dee's sister. Claim to fame and all that!
