David Bowie

What do you guys think of David Bowie?! I'm REALLY going through a Bowie phase at the min. His songs are great and the lyrics and chord structures are so unpredictable! And as for my favourite Bowie song, well, I've heard it so many times but I've only very recently realised the pure genius of Space Oddity. It's beautiful, it's iconic, it's fucking amazing.
-
I have the DVD of his 2004 tour, and I was knocked out more by the songs I didn't know than the classics. He is still a artist who deliver the goods. He has a well-rehearsed, disciplined band, for sure!
-
I only have Ziggy Stardust but it's a great album. Bowie is an artist I have always meant to get into but have never gotten around to it. Hopefully this thread will motivate me to buy a few more albums.
-
Love him. He's got a fantastic back catalogue, up there with Pauls. So many great songs, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Space Oddity, Jean Jeanie, HEROES, Young Americans, Rebel Rebel. He is an icon, great voice and style.
-
I'm a big David Bowie fan! I love the song "Fame," which John Lennon and David Bowie wrote together.
-
Two favorites of mine (both from '97):

I've heard a few of those songs. Not all of em. I'm off to youtube to listen to them now! I'd definately put Bowie in the same class as Macca!

He hasn't done anything in near a decade!
This is true, but back in the day he was AMAZING!
-
Definitely! The 70s was his decade, he released his best music then and didn't even score a UK number 1.

REALLY?!?!?! Never knew that! Seriously, his music was out of this world back then, so how did he not bag at least one UK no.1?! : : :
-
Not sure, he had one in 1969 and in the 80s etc, just not his best decade! The Who have NEVER had a UK number 1 single in any decade!
